24k mile E46 convertible. I love the colours, manualness, and the little wheels. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C588887
Thread purchase today (regular reader don't often post) pick it up on Wednesday .
2002 Saab 9-3 SE HOT. Just over 80K miles, 2 owners, full history with the last service done in December 2014, Mot done yesterday. Both bumpers have a few car park scrapes but easily sorted.
It'll get a few tweeks over the next few weeks but nothing as silly as my 2 door the convertibles much more of a relaxed cruiser.

I borrowed one of these to see a 6 week old kitten, which is now a 12 year old cat sitting beside me.

Nice car to pick up for the 1st March.

Excellent!
Spill the details!
Was originally looking for an unmodified car, wasn't that fussed about spec apart from didn't want privacy glass or two tone leather. So I've ended up with a modified car with 2 tone leather Spill the details!
Mods are B8 dampers/intrax springs, milltek, short shift. Will see how I go with these over time, they're OK for now.
2002, 120k, all bmwsh and was still under BMW warrenty up til 2yrs ago. Then CPC for all work since.
Suspension refreshed + steering. I can't recall all the bits the previous owner had replaced, few of the regular bits: MAfs/thermostat/viscous clutch etc.
Just had wheels re-furbed as well.
Its not perfect, just starting a list of work to do but I think its a good base to start with. Will probably book it into CPC in a few weeks for a service and check over.
All in all I think I got a good deal for <£8k.
Hope to keep this for some time.
Congratulations Chris. The e39 is the last proper M5 before they went mental with the e60 (cannot be run for reasonable money = invalidation of the M5 interest for me) and the latest auto speaker engine playing nonsense.
I want one and would be interested in hearing about how you get on.

How do you find the short shift? I'm not really a fan, certainly not for around town although it's quite good on a blast when warm, haven't ever tried the regular shift though to compare. Something that I mean to get round to but it seems like a bit of a faff.
Also, if you ever want to source your own parts and save an absolute packet, feel free to get in touch. Just got ATE front discs from Germany for £275 all in, about a £130 saving compared to pretty much everywhere else for OEM quality.

First impressions aren't promising, although I have only driven it home today. I'll probably run it as it is for a while and see if I get used to it. Doesn't help that I haven't driven a manual for some time.£23k (ex Revival)

I had a fantastic day with the GT3 yesterday. 15 hours with it and nearly 500 miles covered, of which around 170 miles were on a track day at Donington. It was a damp and greasy start, but a dry afternoon, which is kind of the perfect format for getting to know a car. Well, on road tyres at least. Caterhams and racing Ginettas especially were struggling to stay on the black stuff in the morning.
A comfortable drive up, cruise control and 30mpg, then mix it on track all day with the R300 Caterhams etc and with loads of engagement, fun and speed. Speed. 130mph on the pit straight. 120mph before Schwantz. And this is a bog standard car on suboptimal road tyres. At the end of the day, packing up involves putting a tool bag and the helmet in the boot. The drive home in the rain on the M40 was harder work than I expected though. It was also a day where the PASM adjustable dampers were useful. I left it on the standard setting until the track dried, at which point switching to the harder setting suddenly made the car feel much more at home with the higher grip levels.
And what a track. It has been about 5 or 6 years since I've been to Donington and it is just so much FUN. And that is in any car.
Quite simply, I am in awe of these cars' abilities. I feel very lucky indeed to have one, but although I have had it nearly a year, I don't really feel like I own it. I feel more like a custodian of a truly extraordinary and historic machine, one which will forever be among the greatest cars ever built.
