The e36 328 is becoming one of those "what BMW is really about cars" (in my opinion) like the E21 323, E28 525, E39 528 and E38 728. The M cars are special - but they should be. It was the everyday models that were really good that made BMW.

This one's an auto, but there we go... http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C578279

I always fancied an E36 318iS coupe. Early car with, non coded, non M-Kit.

Identical to this in fact....

140hp has never felt so slow (my wife's 150hp Golf murdered mine). The gearing is daft too, similar to my S2000 but with a 6k redline instead of 9k.
Yes, but apart from that......

Does BMW's range include any of these special non M cars now?

BMW are a diesel car company (and good at that).

Not sold anything for a year and very cheap listing. Could be fine but still odd

Are these really any good?

I drove one very briefly a few years back and came away really unimpressed by the harshness of the ride. I ended up in a MINI instead. Should I have given it more of a chance?
I've droned on about them before but in my experience an absolute digital throttled riot with a nice grippy eager front end and a skippy back.
Looked into the bouncy rear end on a 100HP when I was considering one a few moons ago, according to the owners forum a set of Koni's or similar on the
rear sort the ride completely, apparently a Raggazon exhaust is a good mod as well....

Decent E36s are getting VERY thin on the ground now. As an example, try finding a nice 328i Touring for sale...

Nice to see an E9x M3 sporting the correct wheels.

And this takes me fancy today, well they take my fancy everyday to be honest. A bucket list car for me...

It all stems from my Uncle having a black 318iS identical to the one above brand new on a K-plate.

It just felt like such a fantastic thing and I always remember my Dad powersliding out of a BTCC meeting in the thing hehe

I always preferred the idea of the E30 318iS; lighter, more entertaining to drive, arguably better-looking and, next to an Italian 320iS, a baby M3.

Correct? I can see why almost no-one has them, imo they are not a high point in wheel design.

I like these though:

In the odd moment when out of sheer confusion I consider buying an M3, I simply wouldn't look at one on the standard wheels. Competition Pack all the way for those csl-a-like wheels for me smile

I adored mine. Proper fizzy little funster. I'd definitely have another if they hadn't got a bit pricey.

Gents, a question.

I have recently developed impure thoughts about 996 911's. Aside from internet horror stories about IMS bearings, what's the worst that could happen?

Something like this http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

Thought ideally a 2 not a 4.

Thanks

The comp wheels are rather nice, but the optional 19's are way to Cheshire.

Someone on here has the 18's on an e46 M3 and they look far better on that.
