Chaps,

Im tempted:

What do we think? Tempted as both a summer snotter and also to pick it up cheap and keep.
I really want someone to go and see this (I'm not nearby).

The issue is that while that could be a fantastic car and these mercs are built to do many times these miles without worry, if you ever want to sell it on again you need a buyer who can see that. And there are lower mile examples for a few £k more.
I will. The 55 has just been booked in for its first 12,500 mile A service with MB later this week. If I get away with a bill less than 500, I will have be amazed. I expect it to be between 500-750 quid.

Having a £3k SL to do these miles instead is just looking like common sense. In 3-5 yrs the car will be worth double the money and a slow planned programme of refreshing over a timeframe will eradicate the 200,000 mile issue.

It's amazing the time and money some people blow on making a track car and then only do a handful of track days! nuts He probably baulks at the cost of hiring a Caterham for a day while spending £15k at a motorsport outfit, only to do 4 track days and park the car up.

So it probably needs £2-4k of body restoration. Still, it would be one hell of a little retro rocket.

You would have thought that they'd have taken more care writing the advert though.

Looks proper and at a decent price too.
That's a rather niche spec.

Isn't it. Seems well priced though?

I never really bonded with my Evo. Preferred my 328s.

Christ! Brave!

Imagine the storage costs of 10 cars for 15 years... I love mine but I really can't see prices going E30 crazy

If i had the space to do it, I'd do the same. Nailed on money IMO. if I could find a suitable one now I'd buy it.

Even paying full whack I should think you'd negotiate a good rate on storing ten cars. £1k a year for one doesn't mean £10k a year for ten.

If you have your own storage space in which to store your own cars without limiting space you can sell to customers then you're well set.

What are the production numbers for the E30/E36/E46? Values will be determined by supply and demand, and I suspect there were more E36s made compared to E30 as it was the second generation of the M3 brand and very usable indeed as an everyday car.

Many more made, but then the attrition/barry rate is far higher too.

E36 3.0 is the one to buy, much rarer than the 3.2.

Production numbers, see here

and
