What a great trip! I bet that was an absolute hoot and it makes me want to do something similar

It was. Apparently a puma 1.7 is good for a 9m30s lap, but the fastest timed lap going by the in car footage was about 11m20s I think. It's a bit tricky to get good lines when you are the pretty much the slowest thing out there and looking backwards for other cars most of the time
I did a 10:40 in a 1.7 about 5 years ago, two up. In my defence it was the first time I had ever driven a Puma, and the owner of it was shouting at me from the passenger seat as he didn't know the track at all. Oh, and we had to slow for a crash at wipperman. It was a great thing to drive though, I'd have one, preferably an FRP.

p.s. Anyone want to buy a Puma, never raced or rallied :cough:
The long time lurker in me felt the need to congratulate you on this. Perfect timing as I'm looking for a Le Mans chariot....Also, your trip bought back fantastic memories of a Jag/Granada track day at North Weald.
Bravo.

Think if I was in the market for a rare E36, I'd be spending an extra £4-5k and popping over to The Fatherland.

Is that the going rate?http://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/alpina-b8-kri...
I have a thing for E46's today. Always wanted a CS, but also love the E46 in Imola...

Head gaskets have been done too, so very little else to worry about.

Nein, ich denke nicht. Does look like a particularly good example though, and it's rare enough not to really have a going rate (seen another in the last three years?). The used car market is so irrational right now that it'll probably sell anyway.

Good Caymans have crept up a bit, bottom end hasn't moved. But yes: almost everything either climbing steadily (c.f. any old Pork that isn't a Boxster, regardless of condition or intrinsic value) or hardly moving (c.f. E92M and E60M, L322s, R171s and R230s, 997s and the aforementioned Cayman...I think a few things are happening: 1) the UK market is finally being dragged up by the wider EU market where cars have traditionally been more expensive, 2) there's a hell of a lot of investor activity by people who don't necessarily know what they're doing (to me, prices look a lot like the "wise but dumb" spread that is typical of mass investing - Guig Esprits in either of the Bond colours sell instantly for mental money, but there's an absolutely beautiful orange one on car and classic that's been on the market for years (I posted it here myself at least 3 years ago) 3) everyone's much better informed about what's out there because of programmes like Wheeler Dealers and because even thickies have internet now, and 4) we keep on giving out our best tips on this Thread.
Hey investors, go buy more E30s, it's time mine went up in value...
