Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely looking old bus but I've said it before and I'll say it again-when the bubble bursts, these "classic" range rovers are going to st a huge amount of money.

Not just Range Rovers.

Some confusion in that eBay description.

There are a number of cars/marques that I look at as pure greedy silliness now. I'm not one who is calling a massive crash in prices but I do think that there will be a correction at some point to knock down to cost of a lot of the stuff being touted by some dealers (the likes of 4 Star Classics etc.)

Classic Rangies (apart from proper early 2 doors), E30 Sport BMWs (not M3s), in fact a lot of the mid 80's to mid 90's stuff that is just being driven by nostalgia and low interest rates.

Your cash is probably safe ish slinging 150k into some aircooled pork, but I can easily see a large number of these 20-30k cars being cut in half over the next 5 years. As is often the case this will mean that it will probably be the actual car enthusiast rather than speculator who gets his fingers burned.

I'd imagine no more than 24 months ago, that range rover above sitting in the classifieds for months at £8k at an "enthusiastic" dealers if not less.

In a few years interest rates will be 5% again and the whole market will come crashing down

What are the happenings that will drive interest rates up to 5%?

And not selling because everyone knows you don't buy LSEs.

Even though I rather like them.

A Plymouth Blue Vogue SE would be my choice. I almost bought a Beluga Black avec Tan Hide many years ago.......damn I should have done!

Maybe. But the financial markets and a lot of economists suggest 3% maybe, not 5% in 5 years.

Wise investors are getting close to 10% per annum on their investments, so I'm also not sure I buy the fact that everybody is piling into cars wholly in the search for yield.

But hey, who knows - let's see what happens…!

That LSE above certainly doesn't light my fire at that price.

That was my classic RR bought off ebay for £1800, ran for a year and sold for £2k a couple of years back.

My view would be they are great fun at £2k, but £20k is a bit bonkers!!

ETA: that reminds me I've still got a few bits for it - must get them on ebay!!

Nothing more than a return to a 300 year norm. One day it will suit the US government to raise rates and then the UK will follow as sure as night follows day.

Popped the EC for the Saab and £85 in the post on wednesday and it came back sans cash today.

150bhp and 180lbft is now 220 and 265 respectively. Goes nicely now, front Michelins aren't so keen!

I' don't like it enough to put the money or time in tbh. I mostly owned it to free up some cash, so the hunt is on for something suitably budget friendly to replace it.
