Is anyone local and can have a look? It is in Sutton.
It's near me but the earliest I could look at it in daylight is Saturday

Was a nice looking car - magical blue flames as well on a good run

Great looking car!

I'm on train going through snowy Yorkshire at the moment and I'd imagine slithering around the snowy country roads here would be great fun in an Elise!!
Elise/Exige are great fun in the snow yes Always my favoured transport when it all gets a bit white outside!

Upsides;
Decent amount of weight over driven wheels
Skinny tyres
Plenty of feel through steering/bum

Downsides;
Not much weight to push tyres through snow to tarmac
Light front end highlighting the above point but that is cured with the right foot wink (Quuef)

looks like fun - and I love the fact that there is somebody out there who loves that particular car so much he's willing to invest (what looks like) many times it's value in upgrades. Good effort.

Boxster? Really are very good cars, a great steer and a 3.2 S is a peach of an engine.

Is it a daily driver?

yes

I'd mentally written off the Boxster due to Cmoose wittering on about chocolate engines every few pages.
My old one is on 120k miles and lead 'a life' and other than consumables never skipped a beat.

Chaps, for £8k all in what would you replace an S2000 with?

I keep coming up with a newer S2000 and tbh I've had enough 4 bangers now frown

Criteria: soft/targa top, must be able to carry a set of golf clubs & trolley (woods out of the bag if neccesary) in the boot, nothing from VW/Audi and RHD, can't be longer than 4500mm as it won't fit in my garage.
A rumbly V8 in something like this?

Never tried! I gave up the most stressful stress relieving sport years ago!!

ETA Chims are great just not from there.

How long is the gearing in the 986 Boxster S?

I test drove one last year but can't remember for sure but my inclination is that it's quite tall?

Never had an issue with the gearing. Lovely gearbox and a very nicely sharp throttle response for heel and toe. Pedals are very well positioned for this too.

I really liked mine.

I really want this......although I'm old and blind, what colour is it?

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C548689

Plus it is parked on grass which means it is worth the asking price wink

I'd say it was blick (with grey and tree inside).

I thought that but wasn't sure if it was the dark grey outside.

Ripe for turning into a cmoose-style special.
That colour and done moose-style would be a welcome contrast to the sea of monochrome on today's roads. Approved! judge

(I'm a hypocrite, both my cars are black; there was very little choice at the time of purchase, however!)
The car park at work is depressing.

left hand side of the car park is silver cars and right hand side is grey/black.

Had to drive the M3 into work just to break up the sea of bland-ness.

By the way, the dealer has gone quiet on that Cat D elise 160 from a few pages back. As time passes, I'm also starting to think that if I go down the Elise route, a good 160 is the way to go, so I think I've mentally moved on from the cat D "bargain".
Also consider an s1 111s. A little less peak power and perhaps less instantly attractive (not as low, I think?) but a very well-behaved engine compared to the 160.
Agreed - S160 is my first choice, but a 111S would be a good second. Or I quite fancy a Honda-engined S1 - not many around and often too expensive.
I'm sure I've seen quite good-value ones popping up from time to time - ~15-16k for a Honda'd s1, often with other goodies such as Nitrons? Keep an eye on SELOC as well as PH.
