How the hell is a 2 seater sports car a sleeper by any definition?
Nobody expects the baby-faced MR2 to be anywhere near as quick as ~190bhp/tonne.

Great looking car!

I'm on train going through snowy Yorkshire at the moment and I'd imagine slithering around the snowy country roads here would be great fun in an Elise!!
Was lovely. Fully re-sprayed in my ownership too.

SM - Fairly sure we have had this conversation before in this thread or another biggrin I have definitely seen that photo before. The Elise world is quite small and friendly. First two times it broke down a passing Elise owner arrived within a minute to offer assistance/help me push it! hehe

Rejn - That red one had an aftermarket lsd fitted. Meant it could virtually turn through 45 degrees on the spot on compacted snow/ice. Handy for parking!

By the way, the dealer has gone quiet on that Cat D elise 160 from a few pages back. As time passes, I'm also starting to think that if I go down the Elise route, a good 160 is the way to go, so I think I've mentally moved on from the cat D "bargain".
Also consider an s1 111s. A little less peak power and perhaps less instantly attractive (not as low, I think?) but a very well-behaved engine compared to the 160.
Agreed - S160 is my first choice, but a 111S would be a good second. Or I quite fancy a Honda-engined S1 - not many around and often too expensive.
I'm sure I've seen quite good-value ones popping up from time to time - ~15-16k for a Honda'd s1, often with other goodies such as Nitrons? Keep an eye on SELOC as well as PH.
There was an S2 Honda in PH classifieds 2-3wks ago for £16kish. Agree SELOC will be the best hunting ground. Worth reading up on the merits of various conversion kits/parts as well I reckon.

I bet Dan would build him one to order as well?

Would go for a Willy but only because I know just how fantastic it was.

Having had a Willy I now fancy a Rallye.

Blimey. That is lovely.

Just got into the hotel after a few pints.

Lucky there's no "buy it.now" PayPal option or I'd have some explaining to do tomorrow!

Wow - sounds like a stunning spec with LSD and sports gearbox.

I haven't driven an Elise for years, and it was only with you mentioning lsd that I remembered my old (standard S1) car's tendency to spin it's inside rear wheel when slippery.

I'm too tight with my cash (!) to go down that route I suspect, but tell me more?

I think Maidstone sports cars (?) used to do conversions - is that Dan?

Wow - I know little about them, but that looks good for £11k - I have no idea if they're the right bits to have on it, but it looks like it's had a few interesting upgrades. I wonder if the carbon airbox it's got makes it sound like a CSL

S2 Rallye engine was just a wildly tuned Saxo VTR unit, they look good but not for me. I'd always go with the S1 Rallye and it's little 1.3i screamer.

That does look good.
Do the boot floors crack on these?

Oxford Green II with Caramel Heritage leather E39 M5. 2003 car.

Would need a little rectification in a couple of areas, but overall not bad looking.
