Amongst the huge variety on display at the Goodwood Breakfast Club "Vee Power" morning, I rather liked this.

Dodge Charger R/T by Robert Stokes, on Flickr

Which for fans of Vanishing Point or indeed Deathproof was a bit of a treat. smile

Synthwave with Challenger

Like most people, I love a slice of synthwave. As a result of looking for music videos I found the above which has both a white Challenger and a black Charger. It's a TV remake of Vanishing Point that I was completely unaware of. Spoiler alert, they total the Charger.

Likewise the 'dress up' part could do with further explanation.
When I made my comment I didn't add a wink even though it was said very tongue-in-cheek. I've been going to the Revival since its beginning and I go for the cars, the racing and the planes. I have watched as more and more Generals, Brigadiers and assorted military personal appear. I think it has calmed down a bit and most people are just dressing in period but I have commented before that it would be a shame if it became more of a dressing-up event than the best racing event of the year. That's all. As others have agreed it's easy to get away from the staged mods and rockers fights and other silliness by going to the far side where the viewing is better anyway.
Don't know about the blazer brigade although they do sound pretty cool.

I think the dressing up is great and an integral part of the event - not that I've dressed up properly the few times I've been. smile

I had a lovely drive around West Sussex yesterday morning, not realising that there was a Goodwood event on. It certainly livened up the early morning roads with a lot of interesting machinery (thankfully I was going the opposite way most of the time driving ).

The cars I saw the most examples of were 308/328 Ferraris and E-Types.

I agree that it is now an integral part and the event is known as much for it as the racing. What irks me is not people dressing in period but, let's call it, excessive dressing up.
Maybe in part there is something in me that feels they are not taking it seriously, which sounds ridiculous, but in a "Isn't this all such jolly good fun" way which obviously it is, it's great fun but it's also serious racing and that element is not something that should be taken in vain.

Anyway, enough of that. Here's a selection of adverts for the TR7. Rubbish car, great ads:

It seems advertising was not too difficult in those days.

And here's a rally car, just in case all the sexism was getting you down.

thumbup I think I've still got a couple of 70s MG Midget posters somewhere, too!
All entirely inappropriate these days, of course...

If you click on the link, there are loads of Triumph brochures. There are some really cool looking racing TR3s and Spitfires in there.

DJRC has always been overly opinionated though. If you ignore him and JAYB then it's not too bad.

Isn't all this what makes this thread the diverse and eclectic mix that it is?

Sometimes we'll have a pre war racer of magnitude posted, other times it will be an 80's fast Ford and then maybe after some respite we get a bit of banter about tweed and the GRRC membership fraternity (err, yes....that would be me Deej) wink

Give it a day or two and I'll post a Mini that I still haven't bought yet, or ol' salmon trousers will post about his 'kitted XJS and then there will be much talk of Pork and it's values and of course why we all should have bought E30 M3's years ago.......

I can't think of anything I've posted on the thread to evoke that response.

Many others perhaps, but not this one, in any of its iterations.

Was going to post this though:

Not quite pukka, I suppose, but considering it's build history, is it a better thing than a Stephens or Autofarm type equivalent?

I would absolutely love a 2.7 RS rep

There's a white & blue one up the road from me and by God it looks and sounds ruddy fantastic.

And no, I'm not sure where that posters comment came from either

He's right though JAYB smile

Anyway Ben, some of us own Tweed and Salmon trousers smile My Tweed even has accents matching the yellow cords tongue out

I have to leave off the Italian Southern Europe sunnier shades and dodgy German colour co-off now I've left. The Dutch - well it's orange now!

Very impressive packaging. Far sleeker than the Dino GT4 or Mondy.

Whoop! Whoop! Under the hammer alert.

Luckily for me it appears to have aged by an additional year since for sale at the dealer, so it removes the personal romance (and dodgy man-justification) for purchase. hehe
