Our next door neighbour has just taken delivery of his brand new 911 GTS. It looks surprisingly good and very "useable" and they've been getting rave reviews.

I guess they're perhaps not such a safe bet in value terms, but who knows with the state of the current used car market.

In other news, I'm pondering whether to sell the 1M (which hardly gets used these days, especially since the Defender arrived), banking some cash and getting something older - an early 928 appeals. Or perhaps an M powered e24.

irkedwink What about an Audi R8 V10 instead - less phallic?

550/575 - Very nice, in the consideration set. Can't help feeling that all Ferrari is a bit overheated right now.
The 599 offers a more modern option that doesn't appear to have gone stratospheric in price (apart from the GTO). Worth checking out, especially if you get a manual. hehe

a 928 manual should be on everyone's list... I'm thinking of letting mine go

Pretty! I love the shape of the rear end of those early ones. Unadorned and perfectly sculpted.

Any idea if you can fit a child seat in the back?

I've sold a few 928's and I can't see why a baby seat wouldn't fit.

Not massively but I would find it a bit difficult to turn down an offer for what it owes me (£15k). Always good to get out of a car with no financial impact!

Would a DBS would be a good alternative?

I think I'd take the 12C, although trying the alternatives would be fun.

DBS is a fantastic car and a really nice 'thing' but I would favour the 12C.

Has that supercar feel that the DBS doesn't, I actually preffered the drive of the DB7 GT over the DBS getmecoat

Really? I drove a manual DB7GT a few years ago and while I loved it, it felt like it was from the 1980s. There was very little space inside so it felt cramped. And while it felt planted on the road, there was something about it that suggested that it was fragile and would crumple in a crash...

I've driven a couple of DB9s since (both automatic), and they're lovely, and you can feel (to me, at least) that they were designed 20 years later. Lovely GT cars.

I have not yet tried a DBS.

Big fan of the DB9, really felt 'proper' if you see what I mean. DBS was fantastic but it just felt a tad sterile. DB7 GTfelt flawed but had that character that I look for. Flawed? Yes. Charismatic? By the bucket load.

Do I want a DB7 GT? Yes.

Do I want a DBS? Not really, no.

But then I'm odd like that hehe

Hmm.....good question.

I guess I do but would still rather have a DB7 GT. DB9 is a very, very good car though and infinitely better than a GT......but I want a GT more.

Flawed genius. The GT.....not me smile
