Thankyou very much everyone for the posts on the Boxster - very useful indeed. It seems like this could be a sensible enough option. The 2.5 would be sufficient for me to start with at 200bhp - there is a far better choice of them available at around the 5k mark with reasonable miles on them, or so it seems to me.

Definitely not - I've only just started there.

I need to add a manual, more driver focused car to the equation next. And an old 190!

It looks more like a facelift mk3 MX5 than a revision to the new model
Exactly what I thought.

Bit disappointed this isn't the basis of a new Alfa. May yet still be?

I was about ready to buy one, but then you purchased yours with that nice tan interior. I am waiting for a similar car...

The trouble with buying another Merc is that I know I won't be able to sell it.

Sorry Oa and CDG.....hehe

Built 1990. 2.0e

Shipped to Tokyo in 1991

Re-imported to UK in 2007

I bought(£1.5K!!!) and drove out to Northern Italy in 2009 where it resides. Starts on the nail after 6 months dormancy. Every time.

67K on the clock, Full leather, heated seats, air-con, sunroof....not a spot of rust.

I keep thinking 'sell it, take 964!' .....but I just can't. Mrs A finds it a gentle and easy drive on the tight roads.

Lovely and what a bargain. Make sure you keep it forever, you will keep coming back to it as a really nice item to use.

I do need to get myself in one.

I have been using the SL as a runabout at work (thus keeping it in covered parking) - the MPG on lots of short trips with the odd blast down some local lanes is highly comical - I think the last tank has gone at about 10-12 mpg!

Chronic rust and chocolate gearboxes... still want both though!

This partial Alpina is pretty awesome;

This W111 estate requires brave/stupid pills, but could be oh so cool

That W111 is only good for parts. What a shame.
