Been for sale ages and presume it's way back in this thread somewhere, but anyway I love this 348 GTC: http://www.simonfurlonger.co.uk/docs2/cars/EukVpVE...
The wheels are not to my taste but love the interior.

His is an ex Japanese car which came with a load of challenge and gtc parts and cage but on standard wheels. Interior has been chopped about for the cage but the body is mint. Current main point of debate is what seats and wheels to go for, the rest will fall into line depending on those.

Massively generous Jeremy and I have to admit to being tempted! However I have secured the aforesaid Polistil version under the 'make an offer' process for a tad less.

I look forward to being derided incessantly by Mrs Ali2202. getmecoat

Funny you should post that ol' chum. I've been thinking of a cheap barge to keep the Raptor happy (that's not a euphemism btw), or more specifically, to run around in whilst the truck makes its monthly visit to the menders. The rules are:

- err, cheap
- >V8
- fast
- imposing*
- waftastic**
- fairly reliable

*The 'Imposement Test'. Now, you see, out here in the sandpit, we play a little differently to the western world. Contrary to what Mum and Dad taught us when we were but bairns, not everyone is created equal and therefore, your safety on the road in this curious part of the world is largely determined by what you drive. Thus, the biggest car in any 'give way' situation, always has right of way, even if it technically does not. See? Ergo, one tends to find that say, 3 tonnes worth of Ford Raptor hurtling along at 160+ kliks does a rather good 'Moses' in the outside lane (ironic, given the mere utterance of his name is a crime...). Likewise, any S-class sized car is almost guaranteed safe passage in the fast lane and hence, whatever I buy must pass the Imposement Test. Don't hate the play'a etc.

** if this isn't a word, it really bloody should be.

Pursuant to which, I've been eyeing up this beastie:

Jap imports are a dark horse out here. Generally, no-one touches them because of fears around insurance and maintenance. All codswallop by the way. Hence, they tend to be cheap, with the added bonus of being low mileage and well, not being owned by a lead-footed, mechanically autistic local.

Plus, there's no rust to contend with, leaving, ooh, only the entire electrical system, the gearbox, air suspension and other such frivolities as potential bork risks.

Simples.

Personally, I wouldn't have any issues at all in submitting a LHD Japanese-import S500 to a police black-light test.

Has probably been used to ferry unicorn foals to toddler playgroups.

I have long lusted (from afar) after that powerplant; apparently a single chip change will take S600's V12 BiTurbo from 500 to an almost S65 equalling 600, and a similar single chip will take the S65 from 630 to a fantasically ridiculous 770. In anyones book aren't those figures simply astonishing?

Astonishing before the transmission vaporises itself or afterwards?

But yes, I must admit, a blown 600 would make for an the ideal commuter car. I'm quite confident my mechanic would implode at the sight of that engine bay, alas.

Hmm, not sure how the turbos would work with that though. Maybe just swap the tailpipes for some cherry bombs instead.

770 is more than a chip away, requires extra pipes and intercooler - 612 and 1000nm provide sufficient entertainment.

I don't really see the appeal of putting a loud exhaust on something like 'my' S600, would just look and sound wrong imo.
