What's the general concensus on the Turbos (if there is one)? I've only ever had a very short drive of a 996 Turbo and it was brutally quick but didn't feel all that engaging. Is the 997 similar? Did I just need to bear with it? Are they a grower? Is a C2S a more satisfying drive?
My driving impressions are here.

TL;DR: buy a GT3 instead. wink

I'd have to echo GP's summary above, pretty much my thoughts entirely.

I do still hanker after a 996/997 Turbo, a very desirable thing, but almost in a different non-911 way to the want I have for a vanilla 911 or GT3. I think it is thus.....

Vanilla = lovely daily driver/b road blaster/do-it-all
Turbo - Great for a euro trip/annihilate most other fodder on the road
GT3 - trackday/blow the cobwebs/truly special

I think that makes sense

All the talk of 911's does make me hanker for a 997.2 C2S. Multi-spoke wheels please.

Sadly, whilst I totally get the use every day thing, the Local Central Planning and Purchasing Committee doesn't necessarily share the enthusiasm.

They (she) might be convinced if we could fit a dog in one for the odd trip. By which I mean short journeys to the pub type trips, not long drives before a muddy walk.

Any thoughts or should I give up on the sports-car dream and by a FFRR instead?

Could easily get a dog in the back of a 911.

Do it.

Well............you get the idea with that.

I really do love this thread. smile

And in a reassuring way it always comes back to the fact that we all need a 911. God kids? 911 is what you need! Dogs you say? That'll be a 911 you need then. European blast? 911! Track day? 911!

Those damn efficient Germans have it all covered...

On my to-do list for tomorrow is to cable-tie the front of my 997 back together.

Thanks, wife.

My labrador would only get in the 3.2, given the choice.

Pre walk in the front seat, post walk laid across the back.
The Thread is what got me into Pistonheads a number of years ago. This is why.

Thanks all, looks like it's off to the classifieds again....

If that's yours, Loon, it's an absolute stunner.

Been with us for approx 20 years, Dad taught me to drive in it ie how to heel and toe etc before I could legally drive. Was restored just after and is quite simply my favourite car in the world.
