Talking of buying cars, I too have been trying to get ahead of the What cars are you going to buy in 2016? curve. biggrin

I'm hoping mine won't have to be returned in the first 10 days. yikes

That looks absolutely lovely. My older brother had an earlier chrome bumper one with the antler gear knob. That thing used to rev so quickly and was so light and nimble. Nice thing to have.
Not great for hand-brake turns though...

As predicted I'm going backwards in time, to the days of skinny tyres and no driver aids. And manual gearboxes, natch. wink

It's about as old as Loon yikes so I'll just need the essential toolkit of hammer, screwdriver and a bent bit of wire. biggrin My AA membership might need a bit of dusting down as well. hehe

Inspired by Barchetta Boy I fancy a fleet of BeGentleys depending on my mood that day.....

The old money Alan Clark spec and I'd rarely, if ever, wash it

In 30 years time this will still be hideous, won't it?

I was worried that perhaps I'm becoming an old man unable to see past my own nostalgia, unable to accept anything modern.

But then I saw this

It wasn't originally advertised as having a single-speed gearbox...

Which is odd, because once you've slapped a massive wing on the back it looks fantastic!

yes

I borrowed mothers ContiSpeed last week. At least it's fairly subtle without the chrome'y wheels in moody grey over black (did I really just say that?) but I keep wondering how it's at all possible to be so underwhelmed by a car with 600hp.

Boot lid is going rusty too. At 16k miles.

Around the pre-drilled holes for the optional spoiler?

Personally.. I would love a V8 one but somehow the turbo'd 6 just doesn't appeal. The V8 sounds fantastic.
Wait until you drive the 4.8iS that I am bringing over on Sat/Sun. The only V8 Mercedes Benz worth driving is the G-Wagen... You know it makes sense.

Reminds me of winding a G55 to a smidgen over 100mph on a motorway in Eastern Europe. It really did feel like the slab windscreen will cave in thanks to its anti-aerodynamic shape silly But the noise of that V8 was to die for.

That's lovely. It's also the perfect cut-and-shut of the two my neighbour has. I'll check they're still there on my way home.

Oooh I say! That is very pretty!!

Well done sir. Is something else going to make space or does your gradual acquisition of every rentable garage in the home counties continue proudly onwards?

I've been having these exact same thoughts. I think 2016 will be the year I finally do the RS4 thing.
After many years of Munich-mobiles, 2015 was the year I finally went RS4. However I opted for a B5, even knowing that in nearly all subjective areas a B7 is probably a better car. But even still, I love the thing
I definitely want to try a B5 before making a decision. In some respects, the older car really appeals.

How are you getting on with it?
