Thanks Loon

That's mrs rejn's birthday present sorted (and hopefully a big pile of brownie points banked for me).

Funnily enough, I'm looking at a Cooper S Works for me Mrs PT. Quite fancy one as a bit of Yang to my Raptor Yin.

I completely agree. However (and apologies to all for going slightly OT here), the CGT and RS500 estimates look almost conservative to me compared to previous asking prices, whereas the 190 is about where I'd expect it in relation to what's gone before. I think this is going to be a very interesting auction, and hopefully a gauge of what impact recent economic changes have on the car market boom

Back on-topic, that 190 is stunning though! cool

This is rather lovely, same power as my first Superlight above which was a great all round package....

Caterhams - how DO you get in and out without stepping on the exhaust? Is the tailpipe end supported close to the rear wheelarch?

DON'T step on the exhaust!!

Just step over the exhaust, no need to even consider it needed as a step. Even with my little legs wink

Also, earlier Caterhams have exhaust on passenger side whereas later Duratec are drivers side.

Hmm yeah, I think my sense of scale may be out, I hadn't appreciated the pipe may be quite narrow. All photos of Caterhams are taken from the viewpoint of a 5 year old, so they look huge...

Decided that a Duratec R400 Superlight, with the XJ6 for everything else, is the end game for me. Next years job. It's the only car I can get excited about these days.

Started off looking at older K series cars, but concluded that you're not much worse off in buying a quality £30k Seven over a rickety £15k one. So there we are.

Keep reading these hallowed pages and looking through the classifieds like a zombie, and TBH nothing else seems interesting enough to buy. Boxster maybe? XJS one day? A mint Cayman 2.7 in "Moose spec" guards-over-teenywheels was offered to me on a plate at WBAC prices last week, but couldn't even get excited about that. So Caterham it is.

Had these thoughts for over 3 days now, so it must be right.

Artcurial Retromobile results:

1.2 million Euro for a topless Red head.

150k is a bit more modest.

Grp B BX 62k Euro.

Crazy Visa went at 38k however for a few Euros less you could have had this!.

Agree totally that the 190 Evo 11 is stunning, but how different/ rare is it to justify the price differential between it and a standard 190 Coworth in either 2.3 or 2.5 guise?

£13.5k would have bought it. Basic 2007 car with under 50k miles. Last I'd heard a lad I know from the pub had shook hands on it. No surprise at that price.

I remember MCP Motorsport had an EvoII on the books for years. From memory, it had 40k ish miles and went up in "value" over the time from £29k to £45k. I'm going back a decade or so, but they were reasonably priced at one stage.
