Are you a keen golfer? Or have you been reminiscing about 80's mobility cars?Crook said:
Last trip north I saw one in the services at Lockerbie and I did admire it. If they are what they purport to be then based on my L400 experience I cannot see why it would be a bad idea as a cheap daily. Looks notwithstanding obviously but modern cars have no character anyway...
Edited to add sub 6 to 62. hahahaha love it.
If my LS430 ownership is anything to go by, the engine and 'box will be as smooth as pouring cream, and it certainly won't be slow. And not a lot will go wrong. A fresh valet and some slime on the tyres, and you could fool quite a few people. Edited to add sub 6 to 62. hahahaha love it.
I'd buy that.
(for the missus)
Gents,
I went to my local Lancaster about 1yr ago with the readies to buy my first Jaaaaag, as I really liked the design. In the right colour they are lovely looking things, much better than the equivalent 5-series in my opinion. However, interior space for some reason is awfully inadequate, especially for someone like me - 6' 4" and 17st - so I had to pass. Could not help but notice that it was a car of contrasts - really nice leather on the dash, doors and seats, nice theatrical touches with the vents/gear selector, yet antiquated infotainment (excuse the US term) system, which was clearly a generation behind the BMW.
All in though, astonishing value for money - £15k would have bough me a Premium S with 50k and 2yrs Jaguar warranty. Shame about the total lack of rear space, considering the size. With two kids, that killed it.
Went back to the fold of Borkage Motoren Werke and bought an X5 instead, which is nowhere near the Jaguar in terms of design or sense of occasion, but is functional and spacious.

I took my X5 to Lancaster with a view to swapping it for a diesel S XF.
Came home in the X5, didn't consider it again. Drove OK, but didn't find anything appealing about the interior and especially not the CGA graphics on the infotainment screen, which took full minutes to respond to commands.
And you couldn't even play Outrun on it.

Question.
Budget 4kish.
Needs to be compact.
Auto (Sorry J)
Room, occasionally, for 4
Not a hatch.
Nice place to sit.
At least nippy.
I struggle to get past a MK1 TT 3.2
