Fear not, you can still get a 348 for 25k...30k...35k...40k......50k!
my flatmate recently bagged a 348 for £18k. low kms, jdm car. needs a little tlc mechanically but the body is mint and has a lot of expensive challenge car parts attached including rollcage and all the uber-expensive undertrays and ducts. been a bit of an eye opener in terms of parts costs but we intend to do a full engine-out service ourselves, retrim, few styling bits and get it out on the local track days. i gave it a small run [sans registration and insurance] around the industrial estate recently and it sounded fking glorious. i hope the last thing i hear before i die is the click-clack of an open gate change and the wail of a flat plane crank reaching for the redline.i swear he only bought it to piss me off [i'd just bought the elise] so looking for something suitable to reclaim the higher ground. buggerit
looks aren;t really my cup of [yorkshire] tea but this could be made very lovely for not much cash:

the dunlops in the other pics suit it far better i agree. that roll bar is a crime against humanity though.
Agreed Olly - I have no idea but co-incidentally was just thinking about these. My old man nearly picked one up back in the day, except having a family of 5 meant seating in the back would have been a bit of a bun fight, so he got a 320TE-24 with rear-facing seats in the boot instead! Really like them (all W124s actually) but I imagine that too many good, unmolested ones are left. Do you have a specific example in mind?

Chaps - how much is a nice c124 300-24 worth nowadays?
If it were me I'd be looking at decent, non rotten but useable examples around the £5k mark with a view to a) not a lot going wrong during your tenure and b) seeing all of it back come resale time.Always liked 'em, but alas they don't drive well enough for me.

Off topicWhenever I see small children sat in those rear facing seats they always appear as if they're going to burst into tears at any moment
Heh. It was a novelty back then and they only really got use when the chief was in full taxi mode (i.e. friends / other family members as well as his three boys to cart).
Personally, I enjoyed it for a while but it soon became tiresome / disconcerting to have other motorist eye-balling you directly. I had a pretty good poker face by the time he sold that car
