Options and suggestions needed please for Mrs E24man.

Her last daily, an Audi B6 S4 Cabriolet, managed a mere 70k flawless miles (on top of its previous 40k) under her ownership before terminal multiple borkage rendered it an uneconomic repair. Fortunes have left us now looking at a replacement with a budgie from £20k to high £30k's for an absolute belter.....

Her previous back catalogue is Scooby Turbo's, WRX's, Prodrive specials, an Audi S3 and the S4 replaced her very beloved TVR Griffith 500.

It has to be a Cab for high days and holidays; 2+2 as a minimum; powerful and pretty for a lovely looking blonde (imho) to commute in but probably an auto for some South-East congestion.

Those who have seen a few of my infrequent posts will know I'll try and nudge her toward Munichs offerings but she's understandably resistant to make our drive look (more) like a Dealership.

She doesn't look, feel or act grown up enough for a three pounted star so our initial (non-Munich/Buchloe) searches have leant toward Audi S5, Audi S3, Aston DB9, Mustang and Jaguar XF thus far. She's nipped across the road to peruse a Mustang but ruled it out for an overly aggresive front end - I'm still nudging an Alpina B6 Cab or B3 BiTurbo Cab but domestic balance needs restoration by some external, more wide ranging suggestions.

There is a large reluctance to bust the budget on an Aston as she feels it would look far too flash in the company car park.

Please throw any options into the ring as April will be car-hunting open season.

Check my garage for the M3 reluctance; we did consider an E46 M3 Cab when replacing the Griffith but couldn't find a nice one in 17's but perhaps a later M3/M4 might pass scrutiny.

Any SL lacks the necessary '+2' I would think?

Thank you for the XKR suggestion Loon, that had slipped past my (admittedly very narrow) radar.

They've got 4 seats? Out of budget though

How about one of these? Under budget so plenty to spend on painting/replacing that wood trim.

Thanks Woody but that instantly failed the 'pretty' test.

Loving the XKR-S. That shape still looks good - sure the later engines are better but what more do you want than a spot of open-road decorum balanced against cornering enthusiasm, good looks and a thumping drive-train.

Maser a good suggestion.

Bentley lovely - DK Engineering quite a good spot to enjoy some tasty motors as well!

ETS: I agree with esteemed posters above / below that a Box / 911 / E63/64 Six are also good suggestions. Probably more sensible than Bentleys or Masers!

2+2 is pretty much nailed as we two, then we three, have always been suckers for windblown spring to autumn larking about. An E64 might fit the bill but the badge and the size count heavily against it.... I have found a 500bhp B6 Cab with excellent provenance but need to trick her into seeing it to stand a chance.

ha, didn't see the garage. yes i think she deserves some respite from your dirty little bmw collecting hobby!

xk cab image is, to my mind, very much in the same category as a merc. old people in expensive knitwear.

Thank you for the 997 suggestion, we'll pop it high up on the list but the Bentley is like the Aston, too flash in the car-park.
