Great fun in the twisties, but I didn't really enjoy it much as a daily, slogging along the motorway

Is that your old one? Looks great yes

I can imagine that a motorway cruise is not it's ideal territory, not something that I would use it for anyhoo, I just find them rather appealing.

on the subject of BMW's and modified cars i'm not sure this will be appreciated on this thread but warrants a post, personally I really like bits of it (colour and wheels) but it's probably a bit too low and 'scene' but here goes, just in case getmecoat

Don't mind modified BMWs, but I don't think those wheels have been very well done - the polished rim with the dull-looking magnesium doesn't work for me.

Yep, lovely little car. The problem was that as soon as I'd had enough of it as a daily, I never really took it out for a hoon in preference to my C2.5. So I ended up flogging it and buying an M5, but still went for the keys of the C2.5 most of the time. I really shouldn't have sold that C2.5 biggrin

Whilst the little Fiat has probably been overlooked in the past, are they really this sort of money now?

In other old car news: trip to Silverstone & back on Sunday was 160 miles without touching a motorway. driving

Marvellous, if a little chilly with the roof off. Snuffling carbs, rorty exhaust, skinny tyres and a frosty early morning start on empty roads. cloud9

Let's see some more about your CS then Gruber!

MattOz had the front to sell "mine" to someone else when he'd done with it wink In many ways that's a good thing, I think. However, I do miss the snarl of the cold start in the garage. And the ferocity with which is approached the redline.
The sad truth is I collected it at the weekend, drove it home and (due to being wiped out by a bug these last three days) haven't driven it since.

But its enthusiasm for the redline is just as I (and you) remember. And the steering feels wonderfully direct (ETA: and not just in comparison to the Defender...). And it looks lovely.

I just need to find some time to drive it. But for now, it is sitting downstairs looking like this:

Oddly appealing choice if you need four seats, if extra strong money (for my taste - no idea about values of E90s but suspect this sort of spec was rare and is increasingly so as time went on):

  1. 330i
  2. spanish
  3. 17s
  4. cloth interior
  5. no nav
What's not to like (other than about £3k of Sytner Tax deducted from the price and a lightly less dull colour)?

De-badge and travel briskly (and occasionally slideways), incognito.

( ETA: Another, still silver but private sale = higher miles and slightly more sane price of £4k pre-haggle)

Yes, toppy.

That really is base spec.

Cheap(er) tax, too.

Agreed, but pretty much my ideal spec (no frills), other than colour and franchise wallet-violation. Even one owner, low miles cars can be obscene at the moment. This is effectively a niche spec version of a hugely mass produced vehicle (a fleet special if we're honest, the 3er). For £5-6k I'd be very interested though, provided all in order and no big bills lurking. But I guess in reality that might be a £7k car.

At that price you might as well spend more and get something else I guess.
