4941cc(another one for the ///M beards methinks).
Equates to the cubic capacity of the M70 V12 engine as originally fitted to the E32 750i, of which our esteemed threadist had two of.>hangs head in shame<
Loon et al - got my thread started for the 106 XSi rebuild:

Agreed, that's quite awesome!
Anyone know if AMG ever did an E60 in a non-4dr body-style? Were they all based on the E500E?
They did an Estate - one was for sale about a year ago in Bulgaria of all places... EUR65,000 I think was the asking price... Anyone know if AMG ever did an E60 in a non-4dr body-style? Were they all based on the E500E?
Much awesome sauce as usual chaps - W124s akimbo (AMG arches!)
Ferris - Re. the 330i, I dig completely. Pre-DI was a happy coincidence and I wouldn't miss the power. I'd be happy with leather (should be standard on this kind of car), blutooth essential for hands-free (but surmountable). Ideally I'd also like DAB and a half decent set of audio components but other than aircon (essential), I'm good (and those things can be retro fitted in an emergency). I like the idea about under the radar-park-it-almost-anywhere cars. Especially when they're also a decent steer (which the slowlo isn't especially).

Tonight I'd like a white, single mirrored, yellow lamped, left hand drive 205 1.6 Gti. I will then drive it in my Pr'Octane tuxedo to the ferry in order to enjoy a champagne breakfast

Why have I spent idle moments browsing old mercs today? If you purchase it as a cruiser, how bad can an old SL be?

silly question re E30 320iS - is it a 4 pot or 6?
4-pot de-stroked S14 based, official designation was S14B20... It had some trick bits - the throttle bodies are the same as fitted to the 2.5 Sport Evo II (widest diameter), same with the exhaust headers. They made 192bhp, which is remarkable considering the engine lost 300cc - the original cat M3 came with 195bhp. The S14B20 is also a touch smoother. The 320iS was a tax dodge, specifically created for the Italian and Portuguese markets, where car tax was engine size based and the E30 325i struggled to sell. Think of the 320iS as a 325i Motorsport with a stonking engine and gearbox and you will not be far off.

Not bad at all, but a cruiser is exactly what they are. They are not a B road thriller. Enjoy instead the thrust (in 500 form at least), the build quality and robustness (as good as they say they are) and the general air of classiness and wellbeing that any Merc born in the 80's brings to the table. The beards say the pre facelift cars are simpler and more reliable, and to my eyes looks at it's sharpest with the early 15 holes, 2 tone Saccos and gingers.I had my 500SL in my mid 20's but was too young for it. I wrongly expected some sportiness and tail slidey stuff to match the thrust, and had no internet to tell me otherwise. Now I'm suitably distinguished, it would suit me far better and I really quite fancy another.
The Hammer is both awesome in its own right and also due to being a quintessentially teutonic answer to the question:
"Was iz Vaderwagen?"
R129s also rock. In fact anything with a tri-star gunsight up to about 1995 is cool with me, but especially W124s (pref. CE / TE) and R129s. ^ cylinders good, 8 cylinders optimal
