Good man!
I was talking about my old Cosworth only yesterday funnily enough, identical to the one in that feature. Damn.
You don't want to sell me that issue do you??

Great post Leins and a good read, aged 13 I managed to convince the old man to buy a new Moonstone blue Sierra RS I remember being firmly in the 'Cossie' camp but the M3 has huge appeal these days. What's amazing is looking at the performance figures 0-100mph, both closer to 20 seconds than I would ever have imagined, 30 years later and people are moaning that the latest Focus RS may or may not dip sub 10 seconds to 100, it just goes to show how modern stuff is all about numbers because back in the day the Cosworth felt quick to me, rose tinted specs and all that I guess, but then not sure how long it was in standard spec for
Recent posting has prompted me to have a quick look to see what mags I have left. Sadly not many (excluding Evo's and others I had forgotten I had hidden many years ago ) but I did find these 2 old favourites which I'll be reading again, no doubt the 'Car' one has featured on this thread many times before.

Thanks bud - you're welcome to try it out. not as polished as a Lotus /. Porsche but very much a live wire experience
Ash - Legendary. I love the S54 but a 427 in an E46 will be nuts. I'd go for a touring myself. With roof rails...
But you'll have one hell of a car if you pull it off. Sure it must have been done before?
There seems to be a couple in the US yeah! Ash - Legendary. I love the S54 but a 427 in an E46 will be nuts. I'd go for a touring myself. With roof rails...

Was more a PC fan than Car myself, but both were top quality readingRecent posting has prompted me to have a quick look to see what mags I have left. As for Cossie vs M, I was always more a fan of the Munich products. I can still recall the first time seeing a white M3 parked in the street in the late 80s and just being enthralled. They still cast a spell over me, and will have to scratch that itch at some point I feel. A morning spent chasing one across northern France a couple of years ago still feels as vivid in the memory now

Weird, that's the very issue I've unpacked from my suitcase this morning. Bought it at the airport prior to a family holiday when I were a lad, and packed it again for last fortnights hols, adding a few more (and bigger) greasy sun cream thumbprints along the way. Setright's week at the wheel in a Maser BiTurbo a highlight- never knew they ran a single Weber even as late as 1987.Some of the mountain roads over there (Fuertuventura) are a drivers delight, even if the family throws up one by one at the first chirped tyre. Similar to the Cat and Fiddle (and better) on my doorstep but around 10 times longer, smoother, twistier and more challenging. And completely and utterly deserted. Maybe the mags or manufacturers test there but if not, I've no idea why. A holiday pad with garage, and a Caterham/600 sports bike never looked so attractive.

Carbon fibre monocoque apparently. Not sure if Pagani was involved as he wasn't name checked, but Gandini was for styling and Forghieri (sp?) for the donkey.
And yes, RA's Zagato.
I used to quite like Atkinson's writing in Car. And despite primarily being known as an ex-F1 owner, he's had all sorts of tasty metal through the years. His daily for quite a while was a 500E I seem to recallAnd yes, RA's Zagato.

Had an MG SVR that he compared to an 80's Aston in that the customer was part of the R&D department.

Great plate too.I really enjoyed all of Car's editorials. Alexi Sayle was always interesting as was the music producer in NY.
It's funny on the Cosworth v M3 debate. When I used to see them race as a kid I was 100% Cosworth all the way. I remember at a race at Silverstone or Brands the amount of Sierras in the paddock and parked on the infield parking was fantastic to see.
Then as soon as I could buy one I went straight out and bought an M3

3-door Cosworth is for looking at in the garage, 4-door is for driversGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
