I recall buying Evo 001. Not sure if I still have it. Maser 3200 cover car right? Jeez 98 seems liek a lifetime ago.Loon - that is insane. Can I be your friend, please?
All this magazine chat has got my man-genes humming - I'm thinking a spreadsheet inventory of what I have across various titles will aid my hunt for some of the more obtainable missing issues. With pivot table naturally.
Not looking for every single one. Just most of them

I recall buying the forerunner, Performance Car issue 1. With the Audi 80 quattro on the the front. Picking the issue up from the paper shop in my old V8 Ford but avidly reading about performance mods for the V6 Loon - that is insane. Can I be your friend, please?

Kept buying it till the bitter end, even through the strange 95/96 year issues.
Same for Fast Lane - marked out my early driving career in a way ( although I never had the majority of cars featured )
Even bought the later version of Performance Car from issue 1 till the end - EVO-lite with everyday cars
s m - I also bought the modern PC - have most of them I think. Lots more boxes to open! The late years of the first incarnation of PC were a bit sad but market pressures I guess. Remember some very odd issues as it seems to cater to a lightly less mature demographic. Sold the wheelmanship and scribing skills of the contributors short imo.

I believe it was the era when MaxPower and the other lad-mag style modified car magazines were outselling the 'real' car mags by a huge margin so there must have been massive pressure on PC to appeal more to that market. I seem to recall they did a few modified cars on their Fast Fleet (a yellow/green Ibiza comes to mind).L100NYY said:
My Dad has EVERY issue of CAR magazine since the 60's or early 70's!!
Can he have a look at the February 1977 issue and see if it has an article 'CONVOY' about 3 Lamborghini's being collected from the factory and driven back to the UK.I'm told it was the very 1st 'road trip', since copied numerous times by magazines and Top Gear etc.
If you could post up a copy I'm sure it would be an interesting read, particularly if it was the original 'road trip' as I'm told.

I'm typing this from an overcast Brands Hatch. Looks like rain on its way just in time for the evening track session. Should make it more fun. I'm having a pedal In a friends supercharges vx220 that I've not driven before... Don't even know how many gears it's got let alone how fast you can chuck it into paddock hill bend in the wet!!! Should be fun!
Did you survive? I've done a handful of LoT days over the years and found the driving standards always good. Maybe there was never any rain.

OH WOW. The looks, the colour, the manual-ness.
Imagine a trip to the south of France in that.
