Michael Jordan apparently had one. fk knows how, I can barely fit at 6"2
There's hope for me yet, I'm only 2 inches taller than Jordan!

Nice looking E32 & E34s in the background too

I admire the pursuit. Passenger seat removal is a bit much, though. Non?

How did it drive?

I keep convincing myself I don't want a 996.
I keep saying that the engine issues are going to leave me eating dried noodles for the rest of my days.
I keep convincing myself I can't fit a dog in the back for trips to the pub.
I keep convincing myself that what I really want is a Jag XK-R or an M3 or an M5 Touring or something.

Then I read that and go all the way back to square one and want to sod it all and throw caution to the wind and buy one. With ambers and hard-back seats and multi-spoke wheels and a manual gearbox and I want to travel all the way to Italy and all the way back again just because.
You do need one.

I'm all about an early Turbo, sans everything; sunroof, rear wiper the cassette holder, glovebox. Everything that isn't there purely for the purpose of going hoorin' fast. And woe betide if it doesn't have hollow spokes. Those ghastly ruched seats can fk off n' all.

I said it before on these pages: the 996 will have its day.

Anyway...

Perhaps Sir would like to walk this way?

That's my other thinking.

One of them and some sort of estate/suv thing on a cheap lease to replace my m135 for commuting and impending dog duties would do me fine.

Are they the sweet spot of the range or is it not the case that the biggest engine is the best?

Car salesman "Do you need any help with your options choice Sir?"

Sensible buyer "No thanks, I'm happy just with this one thanks"

WRT the black TR, I can remember regularly seeing a black 512TR on Sloane Street all sleepy smokey exhausts. Imagine it as a daily drive back way back when. cloud9

well that was a touch untidy

Is the later 2.9 similarly zingy and bork free as I've been drawn to them recently?

I had the 3.4 in a Boxster and loved it but that was on the wide open roads of the UAE. I much prefer revvy engines back in the wilds of Cheshire.

Definitely something very enticing about semi sleeper modded 996's and the Readers car is something else again...

Black is 'THE' colour for the red head Dobbin...

Front engined V12 GT continent crushing ability right here, oh and with spanish, 1 of only 28 and best colour (for these) as well imo... £55k dare I say bargin in the daft world of classic Dobbin's ?
