Any other Threadists heading to LM this weekend? I've managed to complete the first 60 miles without major incident, although I'll admit to using reflections in other cars to check the bike hadn't disappeared!

moose - saw that a week or two back. Extra points for the hazard warning lights on the gratuitous splash landing. Metaphorical bow translates as "Tow required. And possibly a new spine." hehe

ETA:

Flange - Delphingrau metallic bimmers for the total win! Loving the E28 cool Here's my old E30 (grainy picture due to crica 2005 vintage phone!):

And yes, the front bumper needed re-clipping as the previous owner caught it on a curb (numpty).

No problem. If you ever want advice in the VAG area, particularly relating to the infinite detail of platforms, revisions, etc. a good person to speak to is 'va1o' on here. He's a very knowledgeable chap in that space and (with me anyway) very helpful!

Lovely DM, beginning to miss something E30 shaped in the garage again now

NAS - that's good to know - that was my one area of concern.

But for now I'm on a train back to London with the cricket on the radio reading this:

Thanks - I miss it. One of my favourite cars to date - despite its flaws (rust, rust, skittishness in greasy conditions, more rust) I think the E30 is a lovely (if resolutely old-school) bit of kit. If it wasn't for the red death / dorifto types claiming most of them, I'd have another in a shot. Quite fancied an S50 powered one but a sympathetically modded 2.5 (possibly 2.7 M20 conversion) with E30 M3 hubs / suspension etc. would be epic. The E30 is one of the best looking / nicest size BMs, just needed E36 suspension tech and a bit more power to make it perfect imo.

This was the one I fancied a few years back - Hartge conversion to 2.5L from an EvoII I think (might have been a Birds' one), up for c.£27k:

I wish I have the pictures to hand... My brother recently saw a very late E30 Cabriolet, which had been fitted with a S65 and a 6-spd box. The car was the subject to a nut and bolt, no expense spared restoration with genuine BMW parts, right down to brand new fasteners! Prussian Blue Metallic with black carpets and cream leather, 17" BBS LM with gold centers. Brakes upgraded to 4-pot brembos off a 928/944, Large LSD with 3.64 final ratio... Must have cost in excess of £20k to build, but it is such a sweet sleeper - no M-Tech kit that I am sure it was well worth it....

Not the 1.5, but the 2.0 in SE spec is fantastic. Almost perfect in fact.

Leins - Superb taste yes Just about the only thing more desirable imo would be a Hartge H36:

Sweet! An S65 would be completely mental in an E30, especially a vert! I'd want all kinds of cross-bracing personally, as well as suitably chocolate-coloured chinos hehe

Still have a yearning for an S38 or S50 powered Touring, or even a V8. Here is one of my favourite "totally over the top" sleeper conversions:

Yep I'd like to try one too, but I've also been thinking for a while I need to drive a original Mk 1 MX5 at some point, I laughed them off for years but there is something about the bog standard original uk car, in blue, that's got my attention recently. Probably because I'm a cheapskate and it they seem a decent bit of fun for sub £3k laugh
