...and how the hell would you know...

This guy is weird.
So really?
You think all the chavs on car parks revving their engines are pleasant people?

The main problem for me is not the noise, a car won't usually make a loud noise on its own.
The fact is when people have a bigger and louder exhaust they tend to make sure everyone knows about it.
You can drive a loud car sensibly without trying to get loads of attention to yourself but it is just never the case.
When you're on a hoon a nice sounding exhaust can make you smile but when you're around town and you're blipping the throttle on downshifts and accelerating aggressively in first gear that is just cockish.
Of course the car isn't going to be silent if you've upgraded the exhaust but there is no need to drive it like a hooligan around town so everyone knows just how loud it can be.

I was behind a ratty old V8 Porsche Cayenne the other day that had some horrendous chav exhaust on it - there is some tacky custom stainless exhaust outfit on an industrial estate nearby so you hear and see some absolute horrors. I've never heard a V8 sound worse. He wasn't making any sort of progress and it was as flatulent and tinny as any Corsa 1.2 I've ever heard. It cannot possibly have sounded good, even compared to the nice stock burble it had. Buyers remorse and denial, or just a moron I wonder?

Just going to say, the Griff, now it’s fully decatted and with a map to make some noise, is, epic.
