I wonder if they are limited on the amount they sell, or will they sell like hotcakes?
If there is demand could they even fetch more than RRP, as other desirable cars have.
Or will they be 25 grand on drive the deal in a few months?

Wait, what? Why? How bizarre - what on earth is the rationale for that? Wonder what they do to the motor to make it generate less power and can it be reversed?
I would imagine (no basis of fact here) to get the CO2 emissions as low as possible so the total fleet CO2 emissions (not something they are daft enough to worry about across the pond) are affected as little as possible. You should be able to get at least some of it back with an ECU re-map.

It could be something as simple as compromised exhausts due to RHD, the engines tend to be offset to the right on American cars to allow for master cylinders, steering shafts etc and judging by the past efforts of US car makers when they shift to RHD there are some pretty big compromises made to get everything to squash in.

Chrysler even moved the steering box off the subframe and bolted to the chassis rail to get it over, tended to rip off after a bit, oil filters relocated to the inner wing with remote, hand brake/shifter still set up for LHD etc.

Exhaust manifolds can be a big problem on V8's at the best of times and can really hurt power if not optomised.

Anyone got any definitive numbers? The US site states 435bhp for the V8. Gave up trying to find it on the UK site after 10 mins.

Ford haven't managed to sell any Europeanised coupes for more than 30 years. Probe? Cougar?

This latest Mustang looks more like a 2-door Mondeo than a Mustang and Brits etc simply won't buy an everyday car with a huge V8 in it. We shall see.

Hi,
the lower power output could be mapping but also could be the fact that I believe US outputs are based on the crank and not the power transmitted to the wheel. Hence why Top Gear did a test on a GT500 and dyno'ed it at 450hp instead of 500HP. The quoted HP would have been correct but only at the crank and not at the road. Fear not though, I have a 2014 S197 Mustang and it is quoted at 420hp and doesn't have any of the enhancements of the 2015 so it can be easily put back, could be as simple as air filters etc.

It's there in the 'e-brochure' in Ford's UK website - 418ps

AFAIK all manufacturers base power outputs on BHP at the flywheel, hence on Topgear a 500bhp car dynoed at around 450 at the wheels. Large V8s with heavy duty transmissions, diffs and gearboxes can lose 50-70hp if measured at the wheels.

So I don't think being a few BHP down on the US models is because of how the power is measured. It's either a typo or due to the RHD set up. Could also be a more silenced exhaust?

I called Ford this am:

1. to get in the queue, you pay a £1000 non refundable deposit (deposited at Ford UK), even though you have not seen the car, let alone driven it

2. dealer (Ford UK owned) said that they expected delivery around January 2016 ..

3. demo cars will arrive in the UK "in the next few months" .. not any more definitive than that

4. if you order now with your colour combination and spec, it won't actually be built by Ford according to when you submitted your deposit

5. Ford will just build cars with popular colour combinations and spec, and if they happen to build one that matches your order, you can have the car!!!

Luckliy, there's aren't many options, and I suspect most will tick 1 option which is the "Custom Pack"

Amazing!

Having said all that, very well priced, a 5.0 V8 convertible with manual gearbox with Custom Pack is £39,385 OTR.
I spoke with my local Ford dealer. They have told me and confirmed in writing via email that the £1000 deposit is fully refundable if you don't want the vehicle following test drive when they come available.

Which Ford dealer did you speak to? I might have a chat with them next week.

Helpfully the page at the top of Google doesn't mention that page so I was looking around here like a dick:

Are there any UK MPG figures available for the V8 version?

Is real-world mid-20s realistic these days or is it likely to still be teens? I imagine NEDC combined 33ish would equate to mid-20s (from experience)

I've seen the US figures, but knowing these tests are only for comparison and I've never looked at US figures before it's not much help.

What have they done to the rear lights?
Why has it still got the silly US reflectors in the bumpers?
If they are all built in the same factory, why have we not got every wheel and accessory option the yanks have!?

OK, can someone who's successfully used the configurator help me out? Or is it just a dire user experience?

Why does it not let you select the V8, or retain any of the options that you select?

Did you choose the right model initially? It's the first "option" on the left-hand menu.
