RE: Ford announces Mustang pricing

Ford haven't managed to sell any Europeanised coupes for more than 30 years. Probe? Cougar?
This latest Mustang looks more like a 2-door Mondeo than a Mustang and Brits etc simply won't buy an everyday car with a huge V8 in it. We shall see.
I called my nearest dealer that will be stocking Mustangs yesterday and was told that they had sold more Mustangs in the 2 days since the prices were announced then any other Ford model. This latest Mustang looks more like a 2-door Mondeo than a Mustang and Brits etc simply won't buy an everyday car with a huge V8 in it. They took my deposit for a car due at the end of the year but somehow I don't believe them. Never mind, gives me more time to find the money, hide it from the ex and move out of London as the insurance is sure to be a killer.
For those talking mpg, my current daily is a 4.6 V8 Mercury in a much lower state of tune ie 220 bhp. Drive it like a Londoner through the metropolis and I get 12mpg.
Really feather the throttle and drive as if there are a ton of eggs in the boot and I get 16mpg.
This goes up to 25mpg for motorway driving tending to be the quickest out there. My other car is an old e36 2.5 BMW which is not much better 19/25.
Mercury is going up for sale if anyone is interested, as well as everything else that I own

OK, can someone who's successfully used the configurator help me out? Or is it just a dire user experience?
Why does it not let you select the V8, or retain any of the options that you select?
Did you choose the right model initially? It's the first "option" on the left-hand menu. Why does it not let you select the V8, or retain any of the options that you select?

Maybe it's pre-qualified you two through your browsing habits to only being eligible for the 2.3?
I'm keen to put down a deposit but my local dealer has said that there is no information on finance yet.
It's a bit of a risk to put a deposit down on a car if I'm not yet sure I can afford it! They want a non refundable deposit of £1000. they didn't exactly try to sell the car to me, just emailed me a form and asked me to fill it in if I wanted to be added to the waiting list!

I'll pay cash if need be but hoping there will be some sort of lease deal. Not bought a car this way before but could anyone come up with the sort of plan needed for a £33k car, say over 3 years.
I must admit I did think I'd have an email today with reference to my deposit and options ticked, like the last time I ordered a new car, ten years ago, but nada. I paid a grand but someone else was saying that his dealer wanted £3k up front. That's taking the P.

If all the conjecture about loads of demand but not enough supply is true, then I doubt there will be any haggling. As I said earlier my local dealer claimed that they sold, well taken deposits on, more Mustangs over the 2 days since the prices were announced than any other Ford model over the same time.

£36885 for the v8 with all the toys and an autobox
I bet haggling will see that a lot closer to 30k if not below
With limited numbers coming over - and the PH populous getting very moist and ready to hand over their cash.....I bet haggling will see that a lot closer to 30k if not below
.... Demand > Supply.
Which means NO DISCOUNTS
If... what I think will happen - is when it comes time to put ones money where ones mouth is.... I expect Demand < Supply
Now you can consider discounts.
When I first saw pictures of the new mustang I thought to my self that they had spoilt it and it reminded me of the Hyundai coupe!
I thought the old model looked better!
But I have grown to love the new mustang now and its grown on me. It now makes the old model look old and I think its a really mean\handsome looking car.
Good design I suppose.
Just like the jaguar xj, saw one parked up last week and its such a nice looking car.

Hmm a rwd back to basics coupe. Just like the gt86 everyone is Swooning over it.
I predict a flop.
Well two Pistonheaders have ordered one as far as I am aware, we are considering it, it is Petrolhead Nirvana for dull but worthy money, it is a bargain.I predict a flop.
Despite the doom mongers, I think we are living in a golden age for Petrolheads, we have all the old stuff to choose from, and some pretty awesome new stuff, rejoice motherfkers !
