RE: Ford announces Mustang pricing

Interesting seeing some of the comments regarding the pre-order / non-refundable deposit / can't have a test drive situation. Proper die-hard Mustang / Muscle / American fans will not hesitate to get a deposit down and just won't be looking back from that point on. As a life long American car person that would be me. But it's interesting ground for Ford in the UK, some people seem to be considering Mustang as an alternative BMW, Audi, Nissan etc. But it may well not be what a lot of them are expecting. It could be like someone who does not know better comparing a VXR8 to a C63, they're both V8 4 door saloons but otherwise are worlds apart. If anyone is considering a deposit on a Mustang with even the slightest doubts over ride, build quality, plastics, fuel economy or anything else when it arrives I'd think it may well not be the car for them. Either way I can't wait for Mustang to get here for a test drive myself !
But surely as a life-long US muscle-car fan you don't need the test drive! .Personally I am entirely happy with the perceived differences between US/Euro cars, as well as the Mustang's firm ride and 'plastics'. If I wanted soft-touch interiors I would be buying an Audi, or any of the other more mainstream Euro/UK options, all of which I have decided against.
I like US V8 muscle/sports cars, have driven a few while over there working and it is exactly the desire by Ford to have a more 'Euro' Mustang, but with a distinct US twang, which I really like the idea of. The key thing is that it is such a different car to its predecessor, so you can't judge it on previous incarnations. There has been times before that I've been set on a car, until I drove it and found it just didn't work - that's why I view the test drive as a vital pre-requisite to finally sealing the deal.
That said after a bit more digging, followed by a chat with a dealer, I am now happy, the deposit was placed yesterday and predicted delivery is Q4 2015.

The US car makes 435hp on 98 RON fuel - it makes 412 on the 95... so, we're being quoted the "pump gas" numbers. I've no idea if it'll make 435 on Super, but I see no reason why not.
I'm aware of that (I own a Coyote powered Mustang) - but do you seriously think that the marketing people at Ford got together and decided, "This motor generates less power on regular fuel - relatively speaking, a lot less, so in order to really WOW buyers, we'll quote the lower output and keep the premium fuel figures secret"?Ordered mine today. Deposit £500.
I really don't get all the usual bhing and whining. No one is telling you that you must buy one. If you put your deposit on one, then you don't like it, sell it for a profit.
I have ordered one because I want one and I know it will be a great motor. Hopefull gonna be a great Christmas present to me!

I had one of the eco boost models as a rental in America for about 3 weeks. Did over 1000 miles in it, had sync 2, climate control seats, black leather and auto. It was a nice place to be, struggled to get over 24.0 mpg average and the auto gearbox performed well in sport. Switchgear was good quality, yet it did develop a rattle which was quite a shock (it was virtually brand new).
I doubt I'd buy the eco boost, personally I would prefer the V8 wide bodied version.

I think most people are pretty impressed, I'd love one myself.

24mpg isn't too bad and only 1MPG less than Ford claims in the US. So realistically in UK gallons we will be closer to 30mpg. I doubt I'd buy the eco boost, personally I would prefer the V8 wide bodied version.
Ford claim 35.3MPG over here for the average consumption.

LOL Test drive only required for me if I don't manage to get my own before demo's arrive !
Good to see you're getting a deposit in though
I honestly wouldn't have any worries about putting a grand down on a V8 without a test drive It's a car that in my eyes you either want or you don't. I'd be way more concerned leaving a deposit on some run of the mill cheap new car without a test drive! The Mustang advance deposit will just sort out the men from the boys at this early stage Either man up and do it, or make your excuses and get back down to your 'prestige' German dealerships who'll be waiting to relieve you of more cash for less car - but at least you will have been able to feel the dashboard before leaving a deposit

Perhaps it should be £5K. That would really sort the Men from the boys......Test drive only required for me if I don't manage to get my own before demo's arrive !

I'm sort of embarrassed to ask this, but I don't suppose it has Isofix or will take a child seat in the rear? I can't find anything on the Internet.
Sure to have, I'm certain that all of the previous S197 Mustangs I've ever seen have had the little round Isofix logo button on the seats. I've just skimmed through the sales person's training brochure for the UK Mustang and found this:
Seats
The New Ford Mustang is a four seat vehicle offering
excellent support and comfort. The standard
front seats are 6-way electrically adjustable with
a memory feature. Optional climate control seats
actively blow hot or cool air through the seats for
ultimate comfort.
The rear seats are ISOFIX compatible.

You wouldn't happen to have a copy of the training brochure handy. Seats
