The configurator leaves MUCH to be desired - another reason I'm put off by a £5,000 non-refundable deposit. I want to know EXACTLY what I'm getting. If a car can't be supplied to UK showrooms at present, surely it wouldn't be too much trouble for Ford to supply the UK dealers with proper colour samples (as we all know, colours on a computer can vary wildly compared to real life) and samples of the actual wheels that will be available?

With regard to wheels, if you go to the Ford UK website then click 'cars', 'mustang' then don't click the configurator, scroll down to the 5 tabs under the picture. Select 'design' and then underneath there are another 3 tabs, one of which is 'wheels'. There only seems to be a choice of 3 - or 2 if you order a V8.
However, on the same website - if you hover your mouse over the 'cars' option in the top left of the page, then in the pop-up click 'future vehicles' then click 'discover the new Mustang', you can scroll down and there are a different choice of wheels! There's that word consistency again!
All a little irrelevant for a car that's the best part of a year away and paid for with a, despite what they say, refundable deposit, no?

I think this is another reason why dealers are taking 1K "non" refundable deposits; if someone is going to quibble about wheel styles, exact paint specs etc on a car who's specs will almost certainly change, and demonstrators of which will be available between now and when they start building them, then they probably aren't a serious buyer.

Not saying that's you, but that's how I see it.

So that is why they are asking for deposits. Should be £5000 I think. anyone can russell up a monkey or a grand, just so they can say they have ordered a Mustang....
Who would waste £1k on pretending to order a Mustang? And the chance to have a early test drive? I'd rather spend £1k on a Palmer Sport day.
You are right, no Pistonheader would ever do that, i.e. pretend they had bought a car, that then turned out to have never happened, never, ever would that happen, not in 944 years.
biggrin

No one would spend £1k to say that though! They would just say 'I ordered a Mustang' with no custard.

So it does.. and if you spec the GT pack (which ours will have by default), those wheels seem to disappear. I... think I'll wait until I know what I'm buying :P

I'm afraid those are the tail lights for the UK and probably the rest of the EU.

I think they should have left the two inner lights with red lenses and the outers (the indicators) orange. You could always drive with the sidelights on to have at least 4 of the 6 rears light up red.

No sequential indicators in the UK either.

hmmm don't like that. what's the law on tinting the rear light's saw a few videos on YouTube of Americans doing it. at 1st i didn't like it but now im thinking its better than just clear lenses.

I don't like that either. I did wonder what our rear lights were going to be like, as obviously the US ones were unlikely to be legal. But I expected a red/orangey tinted outer one and 2 red inner ones.

Are smoked lenses legal in the UK.

Does seem daft that they didn't go for red, red, orange.

Must call local plastics firm and get a batch made up biggrin

Some one at Ford USA must of looked at all those Corsas and Fiestas with smoked and clear aftermarket indicators and thought, lets go white for the Brits. They'll love it.

I have had smoked rear lenses on my car for a couple of years, not been a problem at MOT time, but then they are a sensible level of smoked light rather than totally black.

Mmmm yes. Needs to be more subtle than that. Made difficult by the design.

Now my Mercury, nice and subtle.

It doesn't even need to be like that. Plenty of cars have all red at the back but the indicators appear orange when lit up.
