Excellent value; I will agree £35,290 for the one I spec'd (GT, Coupe, Auto in Tri Coat Yellow (no other options tickled my fancy)) but we are getting the short straw in some aspects:

Its 22hp down on the US
The US gets the option to fit 3.55:1 gears from the factory, we get stuck with the stock tall ratio
Plus a few other options that I'd have liked to be able to select.

Still at least we get the e-line locks smile

ETA: Ford have already confirmed that the GT350 will be a US model only. so any future GT500's et all will no doubt be the same. However, as there are already US tuners getting 500+hp out of this engine I don't think that will be a problem unless you must have "the badge".

That's quite excellent value, to be honest. It makes the price of that BMW 420i seem hilarious. rofl I would imagine life just got even harder for the GT86 and BRZ too... eek

Are these RHD examples being built in the US of A alongside the LHD cars?
All assembled in one plant, in USA.

The seats fold on the S197 so I would imagine they will fold on the S550. You may have to take the wheels off (certainly the front) to get it through the aperature though.

You would have to be a monumental bellend to buy the ecoboost over the V8!
Or perhaps just a bit more savvy..

The V8 is going to be a non-starter for a lot of potential buyers.

Good to see Ford bringing the V8 over here, and for a reasonable price too - I can see why people are excited. Whether they buy one is another matter... I can see that the 4 cylinder will be a lot more popular (and even then coupes in general seem to be quite a low volume niche product these days).

I have a friend who has gone into ford to order one, turns out you have to wait until jan/feb 2016 for delivery.

All of this years cars are sold. The initial batch of 500 sold in the time it took to play the Champions League Cup Final last year.

Apparently they sold out in 30 mins!

I spoke to Ford re test drive, nothing until mid summer at least.

Would like to get more stats on the V8 in terms of MPG etc... to see if it is feasible.

Exactly!!

Given the choice, and money being no object, I'd have the V8, but I still think the Ecoboost will outsell it considerably in this country!

Real world MPG for the V8 will be about 12-16 in the city (depending on how much stop and go) and 18-24 on the highway (depending on how fast you cruise). The 4 cylinder won't be much better and actually might be worse according real world mpg reports from magazines in the US.

"UK spec is also far more generous than in the US..."

Hardly. All of the UK standard and optional features are available in the US -- and for less money.

Awesome news. Puts the Focus RS in a very awkward position though.

Sub £20k you have the Fez ST

Sub £25k the Focus ST

Sub £30k you'll have the EB Mustang.

Just can't see who would talk themselves out of the mustang (for practicality reasons) and not just end up in the Focus ST? Is the RS purely going to be for blue oval nutters/fanboys?

Awesome to see Ford taking on the feedback from the Fiesta's success - make it cheap, make it fun.

I'm guessing tuning will be via Mountune rather than Shelby in the UK. The Shelby name just doesn't have the same pull over here. GT350 or MR350, most uk punters wont mind.

I'm willing to bet that the 4 cylinder official figures will be in the mid-high 30's...Look at the Golf R and BMW 328i etc.

I'm not sure if I'm seeing a Focus that's been mashed into a Mustang or the other way around but the 'family' genes have too far for me. The last iteration was on the money and should not have been tinkerd with so much IMO.
This is attractive, just too much FORD and not enough MUSTANG especially in orange - The ST colour...
This doesn't carry as much muscle aesthetcially s it's US competition either...
Fair play for RHD and VFM though! smile
