Yup, or a Monaro. Those had a huge amount of rear space. Just small entry space.

The convertible we are getting will be our family car for the 4 of us (2 * 6 year olds) - we will have one electric car each and the Mustang for fun and longer trips.

Your girlfriend's seat position probably isn't as important, due to the fact that she doesn't have any pedals to operate.

The XKR isn't a small car; it has fk all rear legroom.

You're st out of luck if you expect a non-family car to be your only vehicle if you have a family. st happens, it's not Ford's fault. Get a VXR8 instead, or a secondhand C63 or M3.
I never said it would be my only car, however it is redundant having it if I can't get everyone in it to go somewhere at a weekend. Who said I was blaming Ford? I just *thought* (important word that one) it might be more spacious than it is.

I appreciate that it isn't specifically a family car. However, given the size of it, I don't see how it couldn't have had more rear leg room. It is a very big car. I didn't think my expectations were unreasonable given that the 3 of us fit just fine in my 180SX which is much smaller.

Ultimately I'm not selfish enough to buy something that I can't take the family in so I'm less interested than I was a week ago. Never mind, Ford's UK orders are full already anyway.

This is/was going to be my main car with long trips with my 3 kids thrown in. 2 of them must be 5'8" already and I'm just under 6ft.

I think baby seats fit ok, there is a good link here: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/bab...

Also here: http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2014/12/2015-fo...

This is a big consideration for me. We have a bigger car for long trips, but want to be able to use the Mustang for weekend family use, the above links make that look possible.

Saw this on the road in London this morning! 5 litre model, looked really good.

I do love the Race Red colour and that car definitely stands out amongst all of the Audis and BMWs on the road.

I placed an order on a 5.0 V8 GT last weekend biggrin The downside is that I am told I won't be getting it until April / May 2016!... eek

It's a big car, and yet it has absolutely no rear leg room. Bit disappointed tbh, carting the 3 year old round at the weekends would be a pain in the neck, if not impossible.

Still, be nice to have a drive of one and see if they live up to hype.
I have heard ford will do a Family friendly seven seat version with picric tables and everything, it will be called the M-Max and is essentially a V8 Galaxy.

I may be joking about that.

Even tho I placed an order in Jan and the dealer told me by the end of this year, I think we all will be getting them Spring 2016 apart from the Champions League winners and the few who placed orders long before the prices were announced.

Personally not to bothered as I don't want to be picking up a shiny new 420hp RWD car on Summer tyres in the midst of Winter and it will give me time to somehow find the money biggrin

I'm not sure you're looking at the right car to be honest. Coupes shouldn't have rear seats at all, just a long boot.
This exactly.

My 2011 has been used to tour Europe with the wife and a tall teenager on board, cant see what the problem is....

Buy the Focus RS instead for practicality but you will always be looking at the Mustang.

That's kind of the point isn't it? If you're going to give it 4 seats make them useful otherwise why have them at all?

I'm sure the RS will be a great car but it will never really compare to a V8 muscle car for appeal will it...

How do you think depreciation on these will go? Like the RS models that seem to loose near nothing or a big thirsty car dumping 50% its value in 3 years? (please be the latter)

On the basis that there are no discounts yet, it won't be freefall depreciation for a while.

However part of the RS appeal is that each generation gets less 'raw' and the RS, like the Audi RS models, only appears towards the end of the line. There will always be a newer and better Mustang, at least until demand goes away or they are legislated out of existence.

Eventually they will depreciate but probably like a normal prestige car, rather than, say, a Kia Magentis or end-of-life specials like the RS or BMW CSLs. Even an early Focus ST is close to £6k and they were £15-17k new, after discount. I'd expect a £33k V8 to be £20k+ at three years old and still £7k+ at 10.... beyond that, they might depreciate into shed territory over another decade, or start appreciating.

Difficult to say. I have a feeling that Ford won't be dumping loads of them here Which will help but if fuel prices go skyward again that could change. Could be that the early cars carry a premium for a while until supply catches up.

Pretty much what I was about to say. "Occasional" seats which aren't that comfy for long periods, but do the job for short / infrequent journeys, are fine, and I can sort of see the point, but if you can't even fit kids in them, let alone an adult, as with even an average height driver their seat back is almost touching the back seat then what's the point?

If it's really that bad (and I can't comment, but it seems to be reading this thread), then just design it as a 2-seat to start with.

But as someone else has already said, if it's just 1 person then you can just slide the passenger seat fwd more, as obviously they don't need so much room (no pedals to operate etc).

A car with the same dimensions as a MK4 Mondeo estate should have a modicum of rear legroom.

A 5 litre V8 coupe is not a family car.

That said, legroom doesn't look THAT bad here.

Just specced up the same car that I have ordered on the Dutch Ford site.

In the UK my car is £32,995. Orange, manual, V8 fastback.

Holland €106,288 yikes That's £77,310. Remember rip off Britain when it was cheaper to source cars from the EU, specifically Holland.

Weirdly the manual is €6000 more than the auto. Must be a CO2 thing, and you pay extra for Competition Orange but Black is a no cost option.

Bloody hell if you go for the auto ecoboost over the manual it's an extra €22,000 yes twenty two thousand!!!!

Guess we should stop complaining about the cost of motoring over here.

Can't be any worse than the legroom or lack of, in the back of my current e36 BMW.
