Given the numbers of each being built a year I can see both having more buyers than Ford can supply.365daytonafan said:

I hope these sell like hotcakes (esp. V8s) so I can get a nice one used sometime.
Suspect they will have no problem shifting the Ecoboosts at that price, but V8 will suffer from the high C02 rating (more than a Ferrari 458)!.chris watton said:
That looks great, and a fantastic alternative to the more everyday modern cars.
Just specced one up in that yellow with all options ticked and it only comes to £35,375!
That was my options on the configurator too - Triple Yellow manual 5.0 V8 with all of the options ticked apart from the 'pack'. Just specced one up in that yellow with all options ticked and it only comes to £35,375!
Wish I was in a position to fund the difference between what my current car (2yr old Focus ST) will be worth come potential Mustang delivery time and the £35.3K
Hopefully there will be some attractive lease deals announced soon!

I'm not sure if I'm seeing a Focus that's been mashed into a Mustang or the other way around but the 'family' genes have too far for me. The last iteration was on the money and should not have been tinkerd with so much IMO.
This is attractive, just too much FORD and not enough MUSTANG especially in orange - The ST colour...
This doesn't carry as much muscle aesthetcially s it's US competition either...
Fair play for RHD and VFM though!
That’s my only criticism of this car, far too much corporate face, it’s not a bad looking car at all. But the Mustang has always had its own identity. Hell mine doesn't have a single externally visible blue oval badge (I think the door sticker is the only one), why? because it’s a Mustang and everybody knows Ford makes Mustangs, it’s never needed a corporate face. Sadly I think that is a price paid for a global model. This is attractive, just too much FORD and not enough MUSTANG especially in orange - The ST colour...

Other than that its rather nice

Real world MPG for the V8 will be about 12-16 in the city (depending on how much stop and go) and 18-24 on the highway (depending on how fast you cruise). The 4 cylinder won't be much better and actually might be worse according real world mpg reports from magazines in the US.
I'm willing to bet that the 4 cylinder official figures will be in the mid-high 30's...Look at the Golf R and BMW 328i etc.2.3T Man Fastback: Urban 28 Extra Urban 41.5 Combined 35.3
2.3T Auto Fastback: Urban 19.5 Extra Urban 38.7 Combined 28.5
5.0 Man Fastback: Urban 14.1 Extra Urban 28.8 Combined 20.8
Auto really dents the figures. Convertible makes little difference to the auto figures but reduces the combined figure by around 1mpg. Personally a touch disappointed with the 5.0 Extra Urban figure; I had hoped a big lazy V8 and tall gears might mean 30mpg at 70. If it can't notably better the 25-26 that I'm getting now it will be harder to justify changing. Looks great though, and gets DAB (with the upgraded stereo), a major tick for me. No sunroof though?

And your wife would probably castrate you if you put your house deposit on a car.

This is awesome, just what we have always wanted for a decent price.
Lets see how many of us buy one, I wish I could, bloody stupid house deposit, but hey I can live in one of these right?

I'm no stranger to getting bummed at the pumps with the 2.5 ST but the thought of running the 5.0 V8 gives me the fear.
....and I think that will be the reaction of almost all potential buyers when they come to face reality. The market for humungous V8s in UK is really just people who want and can afford expensive bling like the Merc AMGs or some humungous SUV.Or garage queens and weekend drivers.

So like for like, including VAT and shipping, we're paying about 22% more than the US for the V8, and about 27% more for the Ecoboost. That's not awful, as cars are always more expensive in Europe.
If you can afford the fuel then the V8 Mustang makes a great case for itself. For about the same price as a Golf R or M235i, you get 100hp more and something a bit different. Independent rear suspension should mean it's a bit better over bumpy B roads than other Mustangs. I'm glad we are getting it, and I think both will sell better than the Monaro and VXR8.

Awesome news. Puts the Focus RS in a very awkward position though.
Sub £20k you have the Fez ST
Sub £25k the Focus ST
Sub £30k you'll have the EB Mustang.
Just can't see who would talk themselves out of the mustang (for practicality reasons) and not just end up in the Focus ST? Is the RS purely going to be for blue oval nutters/fanboys?
Awesome to see Ford taking on the feedback from the Fiesta's success - make it cheap, make it fun.
I'm guessing tuning will be via Mountune rather than Shelby in the UK. The Shelby name just doesn't have the same pull over here. GT350 or MR350, most uk punters wont mind.
Imo it wont harm Focus RS sales at all, due to it being a niche car aimed at enthusiasts who will always be there to order one!! The FRS will also be a niche/limited number production run and more familys will be swayed more towards it due to its 5dr family hatch practicality.Sub £20k you have the Fez ST

I could see the EB2300 being more attractive to the young spice boys who may have owned the previous gen FRS', who want the expensive looking, statement punchy coupe, opposed to the 5dr family looking FRS. Though if the New FRS is to be a 3dr (which 99% certainty that it wont be), it would steal alot of EB2300 sales. So i reckon it will defo be 5dr. Though after the secrets around the GT's release, you never know with Ford...could end up a 3dr coupe!!
Ford has absolutely nailed it with the pricing. Ok the Merc C class coupe, Audi A5 and BMW 4 series has the build quality, the Mustang (no matter how good or bad it is) has the name plate, the history, the statement and now its factory RHD with an undercutting price vs the german rivals.
I would guess that the 4-pot will be mostly bought by the female of the species, and other people who like the look and thingyness of it all, but don't know a thing about engines and heritage. Yes, amazingly, there are people out there who don't care about V8 engines, but do care about company car tax and fuel economy! I use the word economy in the loosest sense, obviously.
To re-iterate what was said in the other thread, there is a 500bhp version coming in 18 months, but if you can't wait that long, or just wish to customise your machine with ... anything really, have a look at the official Ford Racing Parts catalogue http://www.fordracingparts.com/

The UK prices are interesting. I am due to be in the US in late April for a holiday road trip with an American friend and I'd already thought to get a 2015 Mustang as the hire car. Will definitely go for trying one out now, given these prices. Living with one for 2 weeks is a good guide to ownership.
I'd also planned to get into a USA Ford dealer at some point and do some research on buying one over there & then shipping it here later. Looks as if that may not be worth the bother, since Ford UK are not being too greedy.
