Had my 330d 7 years now. It's been great but now I'm on a project that is close to home and so will be doing very little miles. Been wanting to get either an e90 m3, c63 amg or evo 9 360 for a while now - budget about 20k or so.

Now I wonder if I should get something more interesting and maybe less practical?

No interested in caterham style kit cars.

I love the look of tvr t-350's - are they reliable enough? I have a very short patience with cars that break down! Is there anything else??

If you want one of those, they're all good cars. First two might be pushing the budget though. Given that all 4 all practical saloons, I'm guessing you need some practicality. You could add a supercharged VXR8 to the list if you want something more lairy, or a Jag XFR or Lexus ISF if you want some extra comfort.

Sorry to tell you this but you won't get a TVR T350 for 20k

On my 3rd TVR and have never broken down, hard to believe from all the rumors but it's true.. Honestsmile

The T350 (SP6 engine) best to buy one that has already had a rebuild, but your looking closer to 30K,mid to high 20's is possible if you can go for that budget.

I heard today on the news that one car every 2 seconds is breaking down... their not all TVR's you know wink

Luck of the draw whatever car brand you choose,as I know plenty of TVR's that have had their fair share of problems.

Peugeot 309 gti purchased from new in 1988 has been my biggest nightmare car, lost count how many times on the back of a truck 7 or 8 in two years.

If you have seen the couple of cheap T350 on the classifieds PM me,you need to know something first.

Thanks for all the replies. That's a shame about the t350s.

Do like American muscle cars but wouldn't want lhd.

Meant to put that I don't actually need any practicality I just like saloons but actually they are all a bit boring! I'd like something a bit more fun whilst I have the chance.

Mustang.

MUSTANG

How about a Mustang OP, left or right drive, your choice.

Well, it's your choice as long as it's a Mustang.

or maybe

Buy wisely and you should be able to have something different for a couple of years with zero depreciation. (but don't buy foolishly...)

Do u have a link for the top one? Can u get them rhd?

Speaking of zero depreciation I'm still kicking myself after I looked at a z3m (roadster) with about 35k on clock, flawless paintwork / wheels / interior, full history - everything u want, estoril blue etc. for about 6k - they are now about 9!

Something like that would interest me

Search on ph on corvettes up to 25k and you'll find it.
Lhd only. Personally I've had 4 left hookers and not found it an issue.

exactly how close to home is the new project? because if you only do ~5 miles a day it'll soon kill any of the bigger engined cars which will never get up to temperature - you'd be better off with a tiny petrol engine to do your short journey, then get something outrageous for the weekend.
