Have you ever moved an engine in the boot of an estate car?

New Corvette mule is a Maloo with the engine in the tray.

I've had an Impreza STi engine, including all ancilleries still fitted, in the boot of my old Mk1 Focus, the parcel shelf still fitted and the rear seats were still up right, from the outside the only give away was the bonnet aiming for the sky, although the performance took a proper hit!
A 6 cylinder is going to weigh more than a 4 pot, especially a K series, but yes, it shouldn't be a problem.
Over inflate your rear tyres, place a strong board on the boot floor spanning the strongest sections, brace down somehow. Avoid icy conditions and accelerating crazy away from roundabouts and you'll be fine

the best way of keeping it in your preferred upright position is to have a few tyres in the boot to wedge it in place, I'm not sure you could ever keep it in place if you were unlucky enough to have a crash but you can put a towing strap round it/through the manifold or something and have that tied to your tow bar or towing eye with the tailgate closed over the strap.
