Stunningly beautiful car.

I struggle parking at home in Manchester on a parking permitted street from time to time in a Skoda Fabia - so dread to think what it most be like for you in London

Lovely choice, cannot beat the feeling of owning a trident. Looking at maybe getting one of these to add to my 3200 in a year or two. Get an X-pipe fitted to really get the best sound out of it. Get on over the SPorts Maserati.com too for the nest forum in the World!

Timely article. Just moving from a 996 Turbo and have had similar thoughts about either a 997 Turbo, DB9 or Maser. Rear seats to make it a family affair are also important to me so a Maser it is. Man maths time to decide whether a lower mileage GranSport or a higher mileage GT. Roll on Spring!

Walk past one of these on the way to work when I get the train (next to a tvr cerbera).

The design still looks cutting edge, think it will age well unlike the previous generation of Maserati's

One of motoring's best kept secrets the Granturismo.

I'm on my third and the only thing i'd change it for right now is a Ferrari FF.

Drive them both and make your mind up , many GT owners have gone back to a GS and say it is a much better drivers car but as said all down to personal opinion. The GT is a big car and feels it whereas the coupe feels smaller.

Come on over to SM forum and learn all about them smile

These things look and sound awesome. I quite fancy an Aston one day and I would definitely give one of these a go before I took the plunge...

Wife want's one of these, it's her favourite car. Can't say I disagree, I think they're amazing.

Definately on the plan to get in the not too distant future hopefully (especially if I want to maintain my weekly interactive bedroom sessions)

Not if it's fitted with the proper auto, cars fitted with the MC Shift gearbox had oval exhaust tips, very pedantic hehe

Fabulous cars thumbup
I have one with the MC shift gearbox and I absolutely love it, I do very little town driving so it suits me perfectly but I would agree that the auto is the best choice for town.
I also drive around with the window open and the heated seat turned on, the sound is so superb that it seems a shame to shut it out.
My car has been absolutely faultless and the battery holds charge without any issues but I know that this can be a problem with some cars.
I cannot think of another four seat coupé that I would rather have.

I had a one in 2007 kept in 2 1/2 years and 38,000 miles, great car we did the South of France with the kids and a boot full of luggage. Then I had a "buy with the head" moment and got a Diesel XJ, great car but not a Maserati. So I now have a GTS MC shift and can say its noisy most of the time. That sport button should read "smile". Great to hear from a person who is enjoying ownership, once that Italian thing gets you its difficult to find something for that price which ticks so many boxes.

Really like these, and they're within range now, but my head tells me that a 997.2 would be the better bet in terms of reliability (despite what the OP says) - anybody who's had one care to comment on the reliability?

Ha, fair enough! I meant in a more general sense though - for example everybody knows about 997 bore scoring issues as a general fault, are there common faults on these? I fell in love with the look of them in 2007, and said then I'd have one of a V8V (I recall Evo reviewing them head-to-head in fact), but these days I fear I'm too sensible.

I ran a Maserati Gransport as my daily driver for over a year, it was faultless. The Granturismo's have moved the game on again and there is very little mention of reliability issues the forum's apart from the odd flat battery. The 4.2/4.7 V8 is often described as having 'bullet proof'reliability.

I would have one over a 997 any day of the week for the looks and sound alone!

Hello Matt *waves*

Tempted to chop the V8V in for one? I'm a family man myself now, and these comments, and the prices of these, do seem rather tempting I have to say. Not much of a dealership network, but there is an indie near me that could handle one of these. What does a major service cost?
