My S1 was nicked...so do I buy another one...a fireblade, GSXR or Ninja ZX10.
I use it on the road and track days...
Any preference/suggestions?
Thank you!

No R1?

My preference is to try many different vehicles, so I'd go for something else, although I've heard the BM is a peach. Not fancy a V twin?

I think they are all great and brilliant. Do you want gadgets? If so, go for a BMW or a ZX10r. Are you not fussed? Get a fireblade. Are you really, really, really cool but have no idea about current treands? Get a gixxaaaaahhhh.

I would buy an R1. The outgoing model, in matte black, with gold wheels

Bit scared of the R1 to be honest! I've heard it's a little skittish....

I picked the S1000RR because at 6'7 it's one of the few bikes that doesn't make me feel like I'm on a mini moto lol I also have an F4 which is still a good fit & a damn site more reliable than I could have hoped for.

All the modern bikes are good you just need to ride them & pick one my mate has an RSV4 Aprillia which he really rates so much so he's buying the 2015 version

Would love to ride them all...can't find a demonstrator for most of them! The Aprilla is a good call I'll look at that too, thank you!

Its just a shame you didn't find the people who stole the pink one. It was certainly an eyecatcher.

I'd love to...I think I've looked in every estate and bin store locally. I've offered £1000 reward. No luck.
The next bike will be pink. Pink chains, pink locks and a big pink rotweiler chained to her...

Best for what? I love the BMW S1000 I get to ride, the power is awesome, the traction control fun in rain mode on dry roads, and the quickshifter is really good to have, and not the novelty I thought it would be.

But I prefer the GSX-R1000 as it feels that little bit more substantial and is that bit more comfortable after 9 or 10 hours in the saddle. The gearing is good, the finish has lasted really well (it's ridden all year round) and nothing has broken in 25,000 miles.

I found the Fireblade gives a great impression of lightness, and it is very narrow in comparison to the S1000 and GSX-R, and can feel a bit skittish on poorly surfaced road (like throughout London), and on back lanes. Superb on nicely surfaced roads.

I have only ridden a (crossplane) R1 once for a few hours, but didn't like the ergonomics at all, the feel of the engine was just odd to me, and I just didn't like it.

I've not ridden a Kawasaki sports bike for years, so cam't comment

The Aprilia RSV4 is brilliant if you are tiny-absolutely loved the engine and the looks, it handled well over bad surfaces but was really uncomfortable after only 30 minutes as it was not suitable for my beer gut though, which was a real blow.

The BMW K1300 is deceptively quick and cover distances without a problem. It loses out in being a big thing to haul around in heavy traffic, and can't imagine it would be fun on a track.

And I don't suppose a Guzzi 1200 would suit, but a great bike all the same.

Wow...that's great, thank you! I looked at the K1300...it's too heavy for me, wouldn't be able to park it without a handy passing courier to help! I don't have a beer gut...yet! But do have a trip to the Dolomites & Nurburgring this year...but I guess I wasn't overly worried about comfort given I was taking the S1! I need a fairing or my head starts to nod at 70mph which rules out the Guzzi....

I rode to the Dolomites two years ago-the road from and to Cortina was stunning and completely empty.
I've done some tours of Europe on sportsbikes-a Fireblade and a CBR 600, which were no worse than on my V-Strom.

Rode down to Montenegro on my 1200 Guzzi Sport in 2014-the bikini fairing is so much better than full fairings on many other bikes-did 125 mph for miles on the autobahn. And a trackday at Cadwell, where it held its own amongst Fireblades in the Inter group.

Have a ride on an RSV4-with no beer gut you'd love it.

It would be the RSV4 for me tho you should get a test ride on a Ducati 899 Panigale, not quite a litre bike but they look stunning and apparently are fantastic to ride.
