Minibus Classification / Insurance
Discussion
Hey all, i have just bought a Mini bus to partake in a banger rally to Barcelona. Its a LDV...yuck....a coach built mini bus. I have some insurance queries. The current owner insures it as a Motorsport Support Vehicle, it has only 4 seats fitted.
The V5 states no vehicle category or number of seats. It does state "minibus" as the body style and it does get a class 5 MOT.
Specialist minibus places are looking around £650 to insure the bus but if i do a quote as a 5 seater Van it comes in a £200. Does anyone have any experience of such an issue?

I cant help with the insurance issue, but it is very common for Motorsport Support Vehicles to have seats removed. 8 seats plus driver is easier to drive on the continent. You can have a much bigger vehical in a lower class,+bigger stowage space.Plus cheaper rates on the tunnel crossing. (That trip to Spa in 2012 is still fixed in my memory but it had nothing to do with the mini bus )
