Wife thinks RR but loves the Bentley, her argument is strong in that we already have the XKR which is her daily driver and I have a play thing track Porsche. My son has said he is leaving home if I get the RR as he wants me to get back to, and I quote "proper cars". Daughter thinks the RR as she loves them, so in short no fooking help at all as all different opinions
Oh dear - I'm not surprised you're having sleepless nights laugh.

Well.. if the wife loves the Bentley (heart over head), the son thinks that it is a 'proper car', and your heart says so too - then it's only the daughter that you really have to convince. Get one in a colour that she likes and I'm sure that she'll come round.

This.

If it is a daily to be filled with carp and generally abandoned where ever it must, then the RR. If it is more of a toy alongside something else, then the Bentley.

Bentley. 100%. I haven't driven one or been in one, but it's probably the best luxury GT you can buy. I've only seen one in the real world, driven by somebody that apparently was on the board of directors for a large supermarket. The guy had millions, and he drove a 2003 Continental GT he'd had from new. Says it all really.

If I was going to do that I would get the 599 and just keep the current range rover, this was the original plan, running costs and drive space are the issues there, as a family we are already sitting with 5 cars and have no space for another and two sets of servicing and maintenance on these type of cars is getting to silly money that I just can't justify, even with man maths.
599? Do what you must to get that. Just plonk the range rover on the road somewhere and don't service it.

You're a petrolhead, right?

and presumably you've worked pretty hard, and took some risks to get to where you are now, right?

So why the feck are you even considering this? If you can afford to buy and run the Bentley, then stop pussyfootin' about and buy the bloody Bentley!

No-one has ever lay on their death bed and wished that they'd bought a sodding Range Rover.

Every time I've bought with my head I've been disappointed. Has to be the heart.

For the same reason that most people would be clueless as to how you came to choose a Volkswagen Corrado out of the many many more choices you have in this price bracket and type of car
Perhaps you're right, I was really stuck when it came to 6 cylinder coupes that I already have extensive knowledge of and plenty of spare parts for wink

Type of car being the key part! I am not quite sure what a Range Rover 4x4 and a Bentley Coupe have in common?

Range rover, but one with a solid colour all over, the black roof one looks daft.

From the reasons you give it is clear the Bentley is the better choice.

Unless you go golfing with the mates every week but even then, get them to take their own cars ffs!

Ignore the negative comments. Both are superb cars.

Champagne problems hey - gotta love 'em!

I would go for the Bentley, no question on that for me. Go for the V8 though, handles better, slightly better fuel economy, and perhaps you'd save a bit of money

RR covers both head and heart; more practical, but also more stylish (if the wheels aren't too big) and if that sort of thing counts, better image.

I think I'd rather get a Maserati Granturismo S after the recent thread!
