As stated above, the publicity and educational aspects are an integral part of it. I took my 7 year old daughter to see the car at the workshop in Bristol. I'm an Engineer myself and wanted to give her an antidote to the princess/frozen/pink world that she's currently bombarded with. Even if she doesn't go down this route, I at least want her to appreciate Engineering at it's best.
She was goggle eyed at the huge car, loved the simulator and must have asked a thousand questions. In my opinion they've already succeeded. The record will be a bonus.
