I'd guess older cars have the best car fans. But what about modern cars? I think personally VAG drivers are the worst. I don't really see SEAT drivers being idiots, but the main other three, VW, Audi & Skoda (yes, Skoda, that now premium brand), have to be the worst on the road. I've got a friend with a 2000 Polo, and goes on about German quality. Wasn't that left in the 80's?

For groups, I'd say cheap budget first car types. An assumption on the other hand, people who can afford say, skylines, are generally decent, because they've put proper money into them, not an induction kit and a big bore exhaust (which ironically are likely to decrease power output...).

Personally I'm finding the young ZR owners to be idiots. I've met a couple older people who give proper advice, but the rest just sticker up their cars and do the usual stuff instead of valuing them (I guess they're just a more powerful corsa).

I have never really thought of Skoda owners in that way - I've never really seen any objectional behaviour by their drivers that I can recall either.

I see a mix of the VAG group cars, and they all seem to act similar. Skoda has become a premium brand, atleast that's how I see it

Not quite sure what this thread is aiming at but I own an Octavia and an XJS.

Online Briskoda is great for info about the Skoda and Jagforums equally good for the Jag - useful advice, no patronising and no "my car is better than your car" nonsense.

On the road I treat all other car drivers as idiots and am occasionally surprised ... I smile and wave on the rare occasions the latter happens smile

Other than driving slowly and poorly in their Yetis.

I think Skoda have pretty much stepped into the spot that Saab vacated. I certainly know a number of ex-Saab owners who now drive Octavias. Having said that, I'm not sure I've ever come across a "Skoda fan" as such; they tend to be bought on rational rather than emotive grounds.

Why would any sensible person ever judge someone based on what car they drive?

I don't really see any -fans- being idiots collectively. While I don't really like the dub scene, those guys keep themselves to themselves and, given some of the concerns RE stretched tyres, I don't often come across articles about dub guys wiping out a bungalow etc.

I'd actually say that the pattern of worst driving tends to be the Sunday afternoon drivers, the kind that dither in the right hand lane for 2 miles before indicating left and turning off the first exit on a roundabout, or sitting at 67mph in L3 on a free-flowing motorway. Those types of driver are far more prevalent and infinitely more annoying than someone who's spent their money modifying their car but treats it like a princess as a result.

I think anyone who is so obsessed with a particular brand of car to the point of getting aggressive about it, is slightly mental. Arguing over the craziest marque supporters is the same principle, and just as crazy as those supporters themselves.

A good car is good no matter who makes it, and vice versa.

This also applies to other products and brands.

I'd say modern car fans are the best, less parasitic loss as they are electric not crankshaft driven. Viscous ones are ok though, as long as you keep on top of their condition and replace when the clutch is buggered.

Oh... Wait...

Modern ones I mean, like VXR Online and Fiesta ST OC. I lasted about 5 minutes on VXR Online, they just argue about slamming cars and what colour temperature of HIDs to get.

Older hot hatches, however, seem garner a following of passionate and knowledgeable people.

OP - come back and tell us what you mean. I'm horribly aware that I've missed the point and should have commented on the disastrous windscreen clearing ability of my Gen6 Celica and now regret my earlier post.

Maybe you meant what are the worst car vans?

Or maybe your phone spell checker kicked in and you actually typed caravan?
