Cars that have aged quickly

I hate saying this but I always saw the Maserati Quattroporte as being particularly vulnerable to the ages:
This is 3 or 4 years old. It's just had it's first MOT.
This is less than a year old.
The first one looks reasonably timeless to me, in the way that it never looks new but never looks old either. The second doesn't pull it off though, it looks like it was trying to be cutting edge 5 years ago and failed. This is 3 or 4 years old. It's just had it's first MOT.

THe RCZ though... it just looks like a Mk1 Audi TT with a body kit from the fast & furious.
STOP PRESS I've found the ultimate.
I challenge you to think of something so hopelessly obsolete only 3 years after it went out of production.
It did make me chuckle to be posting it in a thread which says 'quickly' in the title though...

I think that that is unfair about the Peugeot RCZ. I think that they still look quite modern.
The 2004ish Vauxhall Astra is an example. They looked fantastic when they came out, but that has made them seem old quickly. The Ford Focus of the time hasn't aged so badly because it looked much blander.
That Astra is a vile looking car from a dismal period for Vauxhall. Looked st new, looks st now.The 2004ish Vauxhall Astra is an example. The Ford Focus is a good lesson on how to lose your edge. No pun intended. The first one was very striking and attractive. It was bold, and it's use of triangles and lights mounted in the C Pillars was very novel at the time. The second model lost this completely, turning into a blobby brick of a car. The mke Focus looks utterly bland abd Korean. What a legacy, squandered.

And anything else with a Dacia badge
Anything with matt black bumpers looks fairly dated
It looks like it's worth £5995 OTR
It has wheels that look like they were stolen from a K11 Micra
It's hard to imagine it going worse than it looks, so it couldn't possible be for vein people to go attention seeking
It's probably still slow by 1998 standards and therefore "more fun"
Sadly though I'm a crap PHer and won't be ordering one - not even for £5995 OTR.

Looked very futuristic when it came out, especially the interior but now it looks a bit dated, I hadn't realised they were 9 years old though.

Better than the current Civic IMo which just looks like a mess, can't wait to see the Type R to see if that helps its case.

This is less than a year old.

I get a lot of jibes about coming from the grim north etc etc but at least I've never had to cast my eyes on one of those pieces of st in real life.I challenge you to think of something so hopelessly obsolete only 3 years after it went out of production.

Back on topic - good calls on the BMW X3, X5 and Range Rovers.
I'll also go for mid 2000s Merc C and E classes.

You do realise they deliberately sell that version cheap with steel wheels and unpainted bumpers because the target market is going to change those anyway right? Thats why they only sell it that way in markets where enthusiasts (rather than posers and badge-snobs) are common enough to justify it. The don't expect it to actually be used long-term looking like that.Edited by GravelBen on Wednesday 28th January 09:02
