True, drove a Jaguar XF briefly and was amazed by how cheap the interior looked, and it was full leather. Beige leather seats in the back also looked extremely... standard.
Have to disagree with this. A friend recently got an XF and it is absolutely lovely inside.i just don't understand these comments. yeah sure if they dont like it they dont like it but looks cheap?

I expect this will eat up a lot of the German's US market share
For better or for worse, Jaguar is a niche brand in the US.In a country with a population five times greater than the UK, Jaguar sells on average approximately 45 cars per day. Meanwhile, the BMW brand, to take but one example, shifts almost 1000 cars per day.
The US picture becomes even more challenging when you include the considerable volumes achieved by the likes of Audi, Infiniti, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz. Even the embattled Cadillac brand sells ten times the volume of Jaguar.

Looks ace.
Just wish JLR would dump the touch screens and adopt a control knob like BMW and Audi. They're so much safer to use on the move.
You gotta be kidding! Right? I just moved from A6 to XF. In the Audi you have to take your eyes completely off the road to do anything with control knob. And then its several actions. Twiddle, Press, Twiddle, Pres, Twiddle, Press, Twiddle, Press etc etc.Have you every tried to change the clock time in an Audi? Even though I did it twice per year, it still took me 20-30 minutes to figure it out. Jaguar XF? Touch the clock - change the time - Set. Done in 5 seconds. Audi SatNav? enter in destination and Go. Audi SatNav "Now?" Yes, Now! Did you think it might be next week!! Audi SatNav "as New Destination?" ArrrrrrAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHh !!!! I read somewhere that in USA some States are trying to ban the control knob feature/function in BMW/Audi's becasue they are the cause of so many accidents!Just wish JLR would dump the touch screens and adopt a control knob like BMW and Audi. They're so much safer to use on the move.

£44k LOL
I'm slap bang in the middle of Jaguar's target market for this car, yet they're making it tough for me to consider one. I need an estate, so nearly £50k list once you tick a few options on the V6?
A 335i Touring Luxury is £38k plus change. A 535i only a couple of grand more than the XE.
Wish Jag well, but much like the XF they seem to be killing the potential with this, ahem, 'aspirational' pricing.
Im not a BMW fan but knowing how much my mate 328i was, I thought that unlikely.I'm slap bang in the middle of Jaguar's target market for this car, yet they're making it tough for me to consider one. I need an estate, so nearly £50k list once you tick a few options on the V6?

Sure enough, a 335i Luxury auto is £41,170 before any options.
I'm sure the Jag will be competitive on price, Merc, BMW, Audi....they all know exactly what each other are doing.
Agreed...
I read somewhere that Calum actively seeks lighting designs that are devisive.
Think XF front light, before and after re-fresh
XK front and rear
and now these
can't remember his reasoning now, other than it generates column inches and at least some kind of reaction... I think orginally it was to distance the product fromit's competitors...in this case, thats backfired eh...

It looks dated to me, about a generation old already
That's probably why I like it. Modern cars in this sector mostly look foul. pic from other thread
While those of us who are interested in driving ponder the possible XE experience, don't forget the checklist that 99% of buyers will have in their hands:
- Does it have flashy blingy headlight LEDs that look cool?
- What do the rear lights look like?
- Can I specify massive 19" wheels with rubber band tyres at relatively low cost?
- Can I have skirts, dams, splitters and other tat at relatively low cost?
- When my mates see it, will they think "cool", or "meh"?
- What are the "monthlies" on the PCP?

I think it has been confirmed about 50 times in this thread alone that the rear is distinctively Audi.
I've seen better mock ups by just using the F-type's rear lights:
Still not mind blowing, but miles better imho.
They're probably doing a BMW, the XE.2 is already designed and will look like that ;-)I've seen better mock ups by just using the F-type's rear lights:

Why does JLR's aluminium always weigh more than German steel? It's still heavier than the F30 320d at 1505kg Vs. Jaguar's claim of 1565kg for the XE20d.
And that's before someone weighs it and finds out the truth since every new car JLR make always weighs a lot more than they claim.
wait until BMW's engine is Eu6B compliant and you might see a different story. However the base XE with the same spec engine (but lower emmisions) starts from 1474 KGAnd that's before someone weighs it and finds out the truth since every new car JLR make always weighs a lot more than they claim.

My mistake, the 1.6d was not available when I tried to buy a C this September. The 8 speed box IMO is great (have had it on Disco 4, XF 3.0, 535d) but it works better with a large grunty engine. On a smaller, peaky engine it tends to spend more time changing gear than actually transmitting power. Best implementation is the new variant with the GPS - so it prepares itself for roundabouts and bends and so on.

fair point, much like the headlights on the XF.Wills2 said:

Like said in the article? Saving it in one to use it in the other, example a more comprehensive suspension set up.And that's before someone weighs it and finds out the truth since every new car JLR make always weighs a lot more than they claim.
How much?????
Love Jags but this is some serious wedge for something not overly inspiring. I remember the times when Jaguar built cars with all the kit as standard for quite a sum less than the equivalent Merc/BMW.
They also didnt look like the rest of the herd. Others have said they are doing an Audi/BMW thing of 1 shape, enlarged or shrunk, depending on your position within your company.
