I was at grammar school, it was a year after England's win in the World Cup and life felt pretty good (apart from the spots).

One of the themes running through these newsreels were the gas turbine vehicles which were always just around the corner for about 15 years.

That "Piranha" (?) looks remarkably similar to a Lamborghini Espada...

Appreciate it's a British show but the Porsche stand looked surprisingly feeble - shows how far they've come!
Yes, but the only car that they appear to have on it is the only car I'd want (though, admittedly, the over-expanded weirdness of the Austin 3-Litre mesmerises me somewhat).

..............Even by 67 they had gone far enough to dominate in many different forms of motorsport.

My attention was also grabbed by the 3-Litre, but that is probably partly because my Dad had one in the early 70's as a successor to a couple of 1800s.

One British car company attended that 67 Earls Court Motor Show, as I did, for the first time.

They'd already made their mark at Racing Car Shows, but they'd now recently joined SMMT as a 'real' maker with this particular car, later to become their first fully type-approved car.

Not a bloody mention in the Pathe film, of course. Nor in the PH bit, but then what's new? Would they even know?

The company in question had two cars displayed, but their prototype road car was new, and they had masses of interest during the show on Stand 139. Bang between the stands of Rolls-Royce and Jensen no less!

A prominent position which came about because of the appropriate moment a very famous marque called it a day, can you guess who?

And who was this company who had the stand between Rolls and Jensen? It's still going today!
As for the marque that "called it a day", I'm guessing Austin-Healey?

Anyway, that must've been such a brilliant time to be living! Love the vid! The music could've been straight out of the original "Rat Pack" version of Oceans 11, the cars were a high point of the British (and Italian) motor industry, and the dames were gorgeous!

Love the Bertone Pirana. Ironically, it looked more like the production Espada than the Marzal did! It was basically a 2-seat version of the Espada.

Another case of a designer selling virtually the same design to two different manufacturers appears in this vid, the AC 428. The same design was sold by Pietro Frua to Maserati (the Mistral). From what I understand, Maserati were none too pleased when they saw the AC 428!

It would be nice to have one or two of those (in their 1967 condition) sitting in the garage now.

If you're serious that's brilliant, what a keepsake. I was a baby in '67 but looking back the cars seem so much more exciting than today and the whole thing steeped in glitz and glamour, so refreshing when set against the guilty apologists of today.
Deadly serious - never seen it before - very chuffed - thanks PH! She actually had a guard just out of shot as she was wearing a lot of borrowed diamonds too!

At 1:44 the journalists were very interested in the "undercarriage" of the new MGB model, whereas the new and improved headlights of the Reliant Scimitar were of more interest at 5:43!

Top fun ! There are some great cars, shocking sexism and continual reference to blokes down the pub. Guess you need something to do if your're on strike mist of the year.
