Are the engines as disastrous in these as they're supposed to be in the IS220D?

Mine was quite a healthy one according to the RR I had it on and back then I think I had the quickest 1/4 mile time on the Toyota Owners Club for one but when it starts with a 15 then its not much to shout about!
>15 second 1/4 mile is st slow even in the world of hot-hatches (never mind sports cars).

I thought the 205 D-Turbo came out first?

Also VW did a Golf GTD way back in the early nineties - never sold in the UK if I recall correctly
Just to be pedantic, that's not a d-turbo. Its got the wrong interior and the wrong wheels, although the wheels are probably a popular swap. The seats on the other hand should be the same as a GTi but in a different fabric.

I do agree though, I think it was the first diesel hot hatch.

Wow, i didn't realize the thread was so old.

Yes.

Also another injector to cut down NOX, way before dieselgate was a thing, if memory serves.
