I find the car noticeably slower in those gears, and as soon as you get into 3rd gear with the turbo spooled up things get a lot more interesting. The Renault F4R (Clio 172/182 engine) is much, much better with no modifications. But it only had to meet EU2, instead of EU5. I never really go flat out in 1st in any car, but in 2nd from just under 2000rpm it starts to pull very well. Keep the traction control off all the time becuase you don't need it, I think that effecst the acceleration more than the limited boost in 1st and 2nd.
I'd love to drive the Stage 2 Revo set up as per the article.

The symposer is good, but you can tell it's somewhat artificial. The steering feels a bit lifeless until you are really shifting along a good road. If there was any way that could be improved, I would buy that upgrade!
It's not an artificial symposer, granted it isn't "natural" to have a symposer at all, but the noise being funnelled into the cabin is 100% engine noise. Unlike the latest RS clio which uses it's speakers I think? Edited by RenOHH on Thursday 29th January 22:04
Having said that, I do agree, unplug the symposer and it's all a bit meh, also the exhaust note is underwhelming. But I still absolutely love the car.

It's interesting to read this comment as I am now a little over 1 month and 1,500 miles in Fiesta ST ownership having previously owned a 182 (with cup packs). My 182 was, until the Fiesta, the best all round car I have owned. Now I'm starting to be won over by the Fiesta as I see it as very much the "new car" version of the 182.I never really go flat out in 1st in any car, but in 2nd from just under 2000rpm it starts to pull very well. Up until December I was driving the Clio 200 turbo and that was nothing like the 182 and, frankly, it was nowhere near as good as the Fiesta. It was not a bad car but the Fiesta pretty much outdoes it in every important area (i.e. economy, price, gearbox etc).
My Fiesta is currently standard though and I have also noticed how it feels a little "strained" in 1st and 2nd gears. That's not to say it doesn't feel quick because it does but, essentially, you do feel it is being held back a little at first.
I am also contemplating the MP215 upgrade as it seems to be a bit of a no brainer really. This Revo Fiesta sounds fantastic though but I value my warranty too much to go for it sadly.

its not as bad as people make out, a well sorted suspension helps a lot, FWD have a bad rep because a couple of firms put powerful engines in st chassis, (saab and Vauxhall) and Clarkson said fwd can only take 300hp max about 15 years agoHow do these powerfully built FWD cars put all that power down?!

On CP2 3rd is a bit quicker (more so higher rpm) but not a big difference like 2nd I'd say. Still handy for motorway work though. For 3rd and above though you might start hitting the limits of the stock cooler too. I've yet to run it in warm/hot summer weather but I would not be surprised if it pulls the power back a bit. I know the old Focus ST I had did this once remapped.
As for warrenty, you do know you can flash back to MP215 anytime right? A bit naughty but I doubt Ford would notice unless they looked carefully.
Personally I think it was worth £££ but mines a 2013 and out of warrenty. If you plan to add a cooler later then more so. In my case though I bought it purely for 2nd as I do mainly local driving. 2nd was driving me nuts after coming from an FN2 type R. The type R would have eaten it alive before CP2 went on and its heavier with the same ish bhp.
- EDIT just to add there is £0 resale value on the CP maps. The license is locked to the car VIN so if you sell the car the map needs to go with it.
