Sir,
Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, are you wasting your time/money in buying a brand new car. Are there absolutely no nearly new/dealer mileage cars out there that will save you a chunk of money. You are under the misapprehension that this car, (when it eventually turns up), is going to be so perfect and unused. It ain't. You are purchasing a car that has been driven by at least 30 different people who don't give a s**t about the end user, and your'e paying top money for the privilege!!!!!!
Out there in the big wide world are any number of used vehicles that have been loved/cherished just waiting for someone with a bit of nous/intelligence to DO THEIR RESEARCH and find it. It means that you have to do some work, but, as usual, you've taken the lazy man's way out and wandered into a dealership WITHOUT finding out the alternatives.
I despair.
Now that you have fulfilled your role in life and stopped everyone from buying a new car, where are your used cars coming from?

Because of course your second hand car has not been driven before either... And of course you know exactly where it's been in the 5/10/20 thousand miles since...

In many circumstances a savvy buyer gets a new car, for less than a second hand one that's been driven by some peasant and had bogies wiped under the seat.

The car has been registered, and I have received the V5; just no car yet....
Registered by the dealer before they've even physically got the car? Something stinks here OP. I asked my dealer to register mine before they got it so I could sort the insurance etc -they refused to do so until the car was at their premises and had been inspected by them!

Have you already paid for It?

As it's been registered already then your warranty is already ticking away. What are they saying about that?

Erm. The dealer does that, not the factory. Right?

Sounds like you are being told some whoppers.
They have obtained a chassis number and registered it, I would guess to hit their target and got caught out with the vehicle not arriving in time.

We do on rare occassions register cars before they arrive, but normally to hit a registration target/get a certain customer offer.

We only do it with strict customer agreement to it, and there's always an upside for the customer (better deal/more money off etc)

Sounds like the OP has got a good outcome so far.

I would also be interested in the next conversation re: the fact it is registered before delivery and how this impacts warranty.

Interesting stuff. As for mr 2nd hand man, yep I agree, I personally don't buy first hand cars but only because the cars I am interested in can be bought, mostly perfect, for less than original price. It doesn't mean anyone who buys first hand is a mug at all. It just means they have different circumstances (type of car, budget, desire for new, desire to own for a long time etc.).

Pays your money, takes your choice :-)

Cheers,

So I think we had a reasonable outcome.

Our car has apparently been delayed due to a manufacturing defect with the dashboard of recent Fiesta ST's, therefore apparently all Fiesta ST's entering the country are stopped at Dagenham to be repaired/reworked. They do not know how long it will take, Ford simply issued a noticed saying that it could be upto three weeks, (from last Friday).

The dealership did offer a car, however my partner was unable to drive it because the dealerships insurance did not cover EU licences. We subsequently came to an arrangement where we would purchase our own temporary insurance on this car, and they would cover the cost in fuel vouchers.

Thanks to all for your previous suggestions.

What a load of uninformed tripe.

It is fairly common at the moment for a new car to work out financially better off than a nearly new. We bought a new car recently and did plenty of research. For the car we went for (Leon FR), and with the deposit we had, it worked out cheaper to go new than one year old.

Also, seeing as the car had around 20 miles on it, and we were there when it arrived, I very very much doubt 30 people have driven it.

Christ, this crap again.

Really mate, your posts aren't helpful or enlightening to anyone. You just sound like a delusional idiot with an imaginary axe to grind.

Sir.
