Probably a Bentley Continental S2 with a Lexus V8 and suspension mods to suit.

Upgrade the ventilation, maybe.

I have what is probably my ultimate classic. A mk1 escort with a 330 bhp cosworth yb, 5 speed t5 gearbox, 6 linked with bilstiens all round and decent brakes. Looks a million pounds and goes like greased diarrhoea. It will do for me untill I can afford one of those porsche 904 gts on the previous page. That is sex on wheels.

I've always liked the styling of the original 3 series BMW. I quite liked the under-dog factor, as they were never as popular as the 2002 or later E30 model. They just don't go, or stop, as well as I'd like though, so a liberal sprinkling of more modern components helps turn things around.

Soda blasted rust free shell
M52/2.8 engine swap (inc Jenvey ITB's & Cat cams) Hoping for around 250-260bhp
Leda coilovers
WMS billet 4 pot brakes
Whiteline ARB's
Staggered 15'' alloys
E12 LSD 75% 3:45

I've built a few updated classics, EFi pintos into cortinas and capris even a TD in one (all with 5 speeds of course, pluss uprated brakes and suspension), then moved on to sierra DOHCs when the pintos became hard to source, doing a zetec into a old ford at the mo but that's not as easy as the transition from FWD to RWD needs parts making or buying.
About 8 years ago i helped a mate build a jag 420 with modern jag straight 6 and EFi, 4 Sp auto and modern brakes, i love the idea and the whole process of making it look factory, the jag even had a period stereo with rebuilt internals to get FM and a input in the glovebox for an Ipod, we spend hours hiding the ice kit, in fact that was probably the most involved part.
I work on moderns all day long so i like the break and challenge of updating a classic every now and then.

I'd love a Delorean DMC12, but with a drivetrain to match the looks and a more appropriate level of build quality for an expensive car.

TO be honest compared to the PRV6 even a Ford Duratec V6 would be a huge upgrade! Apparently it only weighs 1250KG or so (from wikipedia so make of that what you will) so huge power is probably not required.

Yep, this was my ideal as well... But with a mk2

Šomething like Paul Bailey's when it was a road car and was featured in Cars and Car Conversions

I'd keep the V12 though.

I would love a Ferrari equivalent of Singer to remaster a 250 SWB.

Modern 6 speed manual, modern brakes and 400bhp. Experiencing rush of blood to the pelvic region just thinking about it!

Saw an article a while back where a Koenigsegg engineer was looking to recreate a p1800. Looks the nuts to me

I like the idea of a Porsche 914 with the 3.6l 968 engine with some brake and suspension upgrades to match.

Or a Porsche 924 with a straight 6 or vr6 engine

I quite like this modernized Volga
