So, we have established (or some of us have anyway) that modern cars have lost their elegance and are largely pretty boring to drive. So I guess the perfect car might be a "classic" with a few modern upgrades i.e. modern levels of performance, a brake upgrade and some steering and suspension tweaks. So, what "digitally remastered" classic would you most like to own? There are a few companies already doing this: Eagle E-Types, Singer 911s and I've also seen some sympathetically upgraded MGBs and Jensen Interceptors too.

The Interceptor with the GM V8 appeals to me a great deal but I think for me, no modern saloon matches the elegance of a MkII Jag. Ian Callum's car is possibly a bit OTT for me but a MkII that looks "classic" with possibly the V6 out of the F-Type and suspension, steering and braking upgrades to match would possibly be my ideal car.

What would you choose?

205 GTI, a few modern upgrades and the 206 GTI 180 engine sounds good to me!

A modern mini and a Fiat 500 would be pretty cool... Oh wait.

In seriousness though, I'd love to see a modern take on the SD1.

Would still love a DeLorean but perhaps with a much better engine and some other general improvements. Perhaps with the drivetrain off a Tesla P85D wink

An off-roader for me! If I had the cash to splurge I'd get one of the Icon Jeeps - fantastic spec and build quality, but very pricy.

Give me an early Citroen CX, with electric propulsion from Tesla and all the French electrics replaced with Japanese stuff with a modern air-ride system and a few extra gadgets like keyless go and a retro HUD.

And a Hillman Imp with a tuned Ford 1.0 Ecoboost, a carbon fibre body and modern susension

I'd like a Triumph 2000, same engine but tuned (perhaps injection?), electric windows, A/C, central locking, better lights, oh and a better attitude towards rust proofing!

To me, the modern take on the SD1 is the Audi A7. Even slightly looks like it if you squint!

309 Gti goodwood 3dr, 306 GTi6 engine, lynx supercharger, 406 coupe brembo 4 pot brakes, upgraded suspension, an LSD, the seats out of an R26 megane ...

Not that I've considered it ever.

Though I'm not sure if that's classic enough, "digitally remastered" or just modified?

As the OP doesn't seem to want it, I'll take that Jensen Interceptor. Magnificent chariot.

AE86 Corolla with an S2000 engine on ITB's and S2000 gearvox. Painted metallic orange, with Bronze Ray Volk wheels, Recaro Pole Positions, updated suspensio, Brembo brakes.
The perfect retro fast road/track car.

The overhang on the rear end of the A7, always reminds me of the Quattro group b rally car.

I always thought of a Z4 coupé as an updated Triumph GT6. Would be great to have an equivalent Volvo P1800.

I'd quite like a Porsche 924 update.

This sounds good to me. I'd also like to see an updated version of the Capri. The Probe and Cougar didn't quite cut it for me in terms of great Ford coupes.
