What made you sell the first one? Did you experience any unexpected bills/issues?
Nothing unexpected, did the expansion tank(~£25 +coolant) as they get brittle with age (Mine was an 04, and it went around 90k) and had a starter motor go (£35 to recon). Servicing was surprisingly cheap, although the tyres for the CSL reps I had were eye wateringly expensive.

Only sold it as both myself and the other half got jobs much further away, so we swapped it in for a diesel for her to use. Which was great, as both of the contracts fell through after a few months and we both ended up with jobs quite close to home...

What about a Megane?

I switched from a Clio 200 to my 265 Trophy. The meg is still epic fun to drive, looks great, better build quality than the clio plus a ton more power in a straight line

The Clio doesn't have a turbo. Also mk.3 200's are rare whereas z4s are 10 a penny.

The clio is the drivers car, the z4 is a golf club cruiser.

Easy choice if you like driving - cars, not balls that is wink

Golf club cruiser? With 267bhp and a weight of 1,395kg in the coupe and 338bhp in the M they are hardly golf club cruisers. In Q3 of 2014 there were only 265 coupes registered on UK roads so I think you'll find they're not 10 a penny as you may think. Its the roadsters that are more common.

Clio 200 is arguably the last of the breed of n/a hatches and no doubt will be a future classic one day.

Z4 Coupe is a lovely all rounder however for me Clio is the more special car despite just being a shopping hatch underneath it offers a more pure driving experience and they really are fantastic to drive.
