E30 M3 gets used more than maybe some folk think it should? I do try and refrain from using it in heavy rain though, when I use my old 1602 instead.

I love owning and driving the thing, so leaving it sat unused would seem a bit daft. smile

Gratuitous Sainsbury shopping expedition shot.

My track bike has been in bits since August 2013, I just dont have the money to put it back together. frown

The road bike does about 1500 miles a year, although I would never sell it. Just looking at it and tinkering makes me smile, and that is worth all the money in the world.

Redbull you are a star and making me feel less guilty about keeping my e36, Mercury and Triumph when my new addition comes by the end of the year. Fingers crossed.

The new Mustang.

I've just worked out that I spend more time working on mine than I do driving it...

Following a full restoration my BMW M635CSi doesn't see rain anymore but it still easily clocks up more than 1500 miles a year. The E34 Alpina is allowed out in the rain, but not anywhere near any salt so sees about 3k miles a year. The E39 Alpina is my winter driver so does most of its miles through the winter rain, snow and salt and gets a rest and some cleaning during the rest of the year. The 635CSi pops out from time to time but will be sold in Spring, and the E38 Alpina is still a nice new-to-me toy and will fit in somewhere.

Seem to average about 7K per year in the toy and about 4.5K in the daily runabout.
Must mean something...

I just like having mine. Longest trip they get is going to get serviced some years. No problem.

Do you get it serviced every year even if you don't use it?

I'm in a similar position to you Wormus - started working in London about a year ago and hardly get to use my bike or Monaro these days. I live 5 minutes walk from work now, and the car is garaged 65 miles away so I only really get to use it on the odd weekend. Same for the bike.

Tried keeping the car in London for a week, but driving in London is utterly hateful and frustrating with all the traffic. No point having the bike here either as there are no good country roads nearby. Makes the proper drives/ rides I do take more special though.

Plenty of underground parking spaces in London for not too much money. Rent one and have your car nearby. If it is 65 miles away, it surely just becomes an effort to just use it?

Thanks for the suggestion chap. It's at my parent's house, so I do have to visit that area for reasons besides using the car smile

I live and work in Chelsea, so could easily get a parking permit and leave the car on the street, but when I kept the car in town as an experiment I found that I really did not enjoy using it. Driving anywhere I'd get stuck in traffic, parking at various destinations is a mare, driving standards from others was generally poor... it made driving a chore for me personally, which is not what I want.

Yep. I have promised myself to get more opportunities to use this year - last year was particularly bad.

My R1 has done about 100 miles a year for the last 3 or so years. Gets taken for an mot, which is about a 5 mile round trip and probably one other ride a week later, then it just sits.

Not worth enough to sell though. My cost per mile must be horrendous. Even bought new leathers and helmet last year.

Not been out in my 370 so far this year, just not been in the mood not only to drive it but to wash it afterwards

My bike now only gets used for (decent, rural) commuting 2-3 days a week (other than Jan-Feb)and too occasional mornings and days out in the summer,

??????

A lot of bikes and sports cars are probably treated similarly, though.

The tiger used to get used all the time during the summer, luckily cheshire and the peak district is not to far away. Winter time, it got stored and only used on sunny dry mornings when traffic was light. A day out playing used to put a couple of hundred miles on it. Sold it eventually as i was buying a house.

The discovery got used every now and then on pay and play or green laning. Sold it for scrap and bought the missus a mountain bike.

Got rid of it all now and consolidated to a f10 m5 which is used as a daily.

Doing my bike license currently.

This reminds me of the threads about whether or not people use much of the performance of their vehicles.

There is a lot more talk than there is driving wink
