I've done less than 500 in the Subaru in the past 2 years (only 40 miles since it was MOT'd back in August). I really don't want to part with it as I still get a buzz out of driving it when I actually get around to dragging it out of the garage.

I sold the Ferrari 308GTS (after 12 years ownership) because I was doing about 200-300 miles a year.

Did about 4k miles on each motorbike last year ...

that's quite an effect, looks like toy cars. can't figure it out, is it narrow depth of field in conjunction with a very long lens?

My second car (third in household) is a mk3 mr2 that sits in a garage blocked in by both our others cars as a result it rarely gets taken out (recently got a trickle charger for it due to lack of us). Have to make an effort to even get 1 drive a month. However I'm changing my everyday car soon and am planning a gap between them so I can use the mr2 for a bit, which I'm looking forward too.

I hired a caterham last summer for two days. I enjoyed it that much I did 240 miles in one day blasting around the peak district

Yup, IMO a car that's not being used is a car that should be sold. I once had too many cars and it was a complete waste of time.

Vital to ensure the cars you own fit your real-world lifestyle. No point just dreaming and never taking them out.

I won't buy a car unless it's also a toy. The Elise is so much fun I drive it all the time, the 350Z is a pretty toyish daily driver.

I'm too lazy/old to ride bikes in the winter any more.

Tilt shift photography - I've never tried it though.

18000 miles on 2 wheels most years, same on 4. I like petrol. Bit sad to read of 100 mile per year toys though, but if it keep you happy and sane then fine.

18500 miles in 40 months since new, so yes, I use it. That's a bit over £7 grand's worth of petrol used.

Over the last year...

6k miles in the monaro
2k miles in the 205
1k on the bike
20k in the daily insignia

Will be similar this year bar more bike miles, maybe a few more in the pug too. Monaro will probs be 6k ish again as we have a euro trip planned for this summer.

Cars and bikes are for driving/riding, though.

Hopefully will improve on the 700 miles I did in the MK3 MX5 in the last 12 months, now my everyday car is a discovery 4.
Had an S3 sport back last year and just found that to be the one I always jumped in as it was quicker than the 5 and handled better.
Now the daily is a wafty old beast, the 5 should feel much more dynamic. It just sailed straight through the MOT with no advisories so doesn't cost much other than depreciation.

Mind you, if it's not being used much by June, I'll probably move it on.

I try I really do!

I sold my Amazon because I only did 1003 miles between MOTs and I thought it deserved someone who would use it (and the new owner does).

My MX-5 was my daily for 18months then got supplemented by a Rover 45. Use seems to be fairly well split between the two.

The bike gets used where time/ weather/ it not having a flat battery allows

My poor old long suffering Landie on the other hand... Had 'er nearly 5 years now and done less than 3000 miles. Always involving some form of abuse (usual Landie van duties, towing and offroading) where my other cars just wouldn't be suitable.

MOT ran out in August and until Wednesday she hadn't even been started since November. Just to really really make me feel guilty for my mistreatment of the old girl she STILL fired up first time and drove off as if it had been 2 hours not over 2 months smokin

Took 'er off to the garage on Fri to get recommissioned for an MOT, still taxed and insured so hopefully will be back on the road by the end of the week biggrin

Caterham does at least 5000 a year although I only use her March- November; similar usage over the nearly 20 years I have driven them . Am at a loss to understand why people buy cars like this and find reasons not to use them - nothing sadder than " 1995 Ferrari F355 , 2700 miles" .

My toy no.1 (SV650s) hasnt been used since the week before christmas. I've taken the battery out and kept it inside. I did less than 3000 miles last year, which considering I've owned it since 18,500 miles in 2006 and its now sitting on 73,000, is quite a drop in my use of it.

I also own another toy - Yamaha FZ1s. I plan on using that a lot this year, and the SV will go (as much as I love my SV, it isnt anywhere as good or nice t ride as the FZ1, even if it does sound better, so its got to go).

I only ride when its nice, or when I have to go into a busy town.
